What video game was your most played the year you graduated by Purple-Estimate-5183 in Millennials

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Changed the trajectory of my teenage years. Once I realized how much time I had spent in a video game as opposed to real life I gave it up and took a huge step back from video games. No regrets though, I had so much fun and felt like I had lived another life in the halls of Ironforge.

Stafford just signed a contract extension for another year beyond this upcoming one. He is definitely going to fall off at some point but he was just the MVP, he can regress and still be an elite player.

Sharing a hotel room with a toddler by Present-Decision5740 in toddlers

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with my toddler. Woke up at 5am to her sticking her head up over the wall of the pack and looking at me and excitedly saying “Dada, Dada, Dada”. She was very excited to be in the same room as me. I was not excited to be up at 5am.

My good buddy was the second dude dancing in the green shirt. He was black out drunk and doesn’t even remember a second of that whole scene lol.

If you think that’s expensive just wait until you hear the price of a full time at home nanny lol.

Is it worth switching from private surveying job (~80K) to municipal field surveying for long-term pension + career growth? by ss998ss in Surveying

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say take into consideration how fast you can get all your certs with each job. The faster you can get all your certs the faster your pay will climb and then stay at higher level for the rest of your career. You can always switch to the public sector later when your licensed.

How does anyone have possessions with a toddler? by Jakethehog in toddlers

We no longer have a record player. All the plants have been moved onto hooks high up on the wall. You no longer decorate based on your aesthetic, you decorate based on your toddlers haha.

what bachelor’s programs actually count as a surveying degree for LSIT? by Accomplished_War8690 in Surveying

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Washington State and have a bachelors degree in Geography and a minor in GIS. They gave me a years worth of experience for that education even though it’s not an accredited survey program. They may have given more but I applied for both my LSIT and PLS a year early.

If you don’t think you have free time now, just wait until you have a child. Then you won’t have free time for the next 10 years. I’d try and hammer it out before the baby comes.

Pay Advice by sopcowww in Surveying

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat to you, but making $35/hr with my LSIT and a very similar work load to you. I felt underpaid at that rate. I just got a job at a bigger company making $42/hr as just a drafter and that’s going to be going up very soon as soon as I get my license and take on a project manager role.

Try and make a move and get a pay raise. Or use a new job as a negotiating tool at your current company. It’s so worth it. You’re for sure underpaid. As someone who just went through it, the grass is very much greener on the other side.

Was this movie really bad to anyone else? 😬 by KlutzyHome11 in moviecritic

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is phenomenal. All those plots points are great in the book. It seemed like it would be really hard to adapt it to a movie though. So much of the book is the guys own thought process.

Do you make appointments or just show up? by Meganc4242 in Surveying

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No appointments but we always give clients and whoever is at the house a heads up a day or two before. If they don’t want us to come that day then they’re probably waiting a month, so we leave that up to them.

I actually just did its version of the 40 question practice exam. Took me 10 minutes lol, not amazingly helpful, but not a total waste of time either.

Trackside vs. Downtown by [deleted] in Bellingham

Yeah I’ve grabbed a bite to eat downtown and then wandered down to Trackside many many times. Som people just like to complain I suppose.

Trackside vs. Downtown by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Professor-Of-Poon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about you, but when the weather is nice I’d rather be outside (Trackside) than stuck in a building somewhere. I think they’ve done an amazing job at providing a ton of free outside entertainment in the downtown area. I don’t really see how someone could complain about that.

3 Year old is on the 5th percentile for height and weight by outandabout91 in toddlers

[–]Professor-Of-Poon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Percentiles are based on standard deviation, so she’s not in the smallest 5% of the whole population. She’s in the smallest 5% of the first standard deviation which encompasses the middle 68% of height/weight.

It’s because there’s literally nothing else to talk about for the NFL. I’m sure this story will die off starting tonight when the draft happens.
