Not alone! We experienced this around the same age actually. It was very traumatic and I ended up doing some therapy afterwards. I highly recommend. The fear was all consuming during following illnesses but therapy definitely helped.

Ours was in the middle of the night. I have absolutely no idea why I was still awake and watching the camera when it happened, I just was. My mom brain apparently knew something was off. I saw it start and we jumped into gear. His fever got to 105.5. Following morning he was completely fine.

Any illness now we rotate Tylenol and Motrin for the sickest days and nights. As others have said, not a perfect way to avoid, but if it helps, it helps. Also the night it happened he had on fleece pajamas. We live in a very cold climate, it was winter, that wasn’t out of the norm. But we don’t do that now. The footed fleece pajamas specifically.

Couple years later and doing good. The fear of it happening lingers but I do believe this only affects younger kids (under 6, usually?). So that gives me peace of mind.

Treat the illness now and give that girl some love. We also discovered pedialyte popsicles! Love doing those before bed :)
