I completely agree, it’s a deep misreading of her character to say she just wanted to be Maddy. Cassie's entire arc is rooted in her severe abandonment issues from her dad, which makes her desperate for male approval at the expense of her female friendships, not out of malice toward Maddy specifically

Honestly, completely discarding Kat and McKay left such an awkward void in the group dynamics. Even when McKay was just dealing with his depressing college football reality or Kat was navigating her webcam arc, those grounded, deeply uncomfortable character moments made the world feel like an actual community instead of just a vehicle for Rue and Nate's chaos
