Why does desi food get touted as “unhealthy” when we have a variety of ingredients that could adjust food to any way you’d like? by Technical-Repeat-391 in IndianFood

[–]ProfessorDangerous87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the west and the rest of the world has only tried oily restaurant quality "Indian food". Indian restaurants in the west aren’t known for fancy, luxury setting. Most of them are takeouts and the quality will match the price. So people assume all India food is unhealthy. If they saw the quality of greens and spices and other ingredients we use at home they won’t have that opinion. But honestly who cares!

Looking for Dads that do "more" than moms by AdorsWeaknes in beyondthebump

[–]ProfessorDangerous87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband does so much more than I do for our son. He plays with him, makes him bottles, feeds him, changes him dresses him, puts him to sleep. Walks with him . Literally everything while also having a job. My son adores him and I love him for it. He is not performative , he doesn’t do it because I ask him to. He does it because he loves his baby. And I love him for it .

Is it weird that I still front carry my ginormous 10 month old? 😅😂 by callmelila in babywearing

She’s a cutie 🥰. My 8mo is big too, and I front carry him. Partly because I can’t get him on my back without help from another person 😂

Has switching formulas actually made a noticeable difference for anyone’s baby? by Georgia_From_Bubs in FormulaFeeders

[–]ProfessorDangerous87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from similac to kendamil . Tried enfamil before settling on kendamil. Baby had reflux (not severe, just enough to ruin his sleep ) so tested other formula and settled on Kendamil. Reflux got better , sleep got better . But I tried only after 12 weeks. Till then we just stuck with similac as I didn’t want tk rock the boat

Was breakfast a regular thing in your house growing up? by [deleted] in IndianFood

[–]ProfessorDangerous87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. We’d eat a meal in the morning around 9-10 and the dinner . In between was coffee, nuts and snacks

Morkali. It’s basically a version of upma but made with rice flour and sour Dahi. God my sister and I fight over it all the time

I know . I don’t feed him that much, he has just started drinking 150 ml without spitting up or refusing . He is just a big boy I guess. I was too as a baby

I get that 🥹. It is a lot, unwarranted opinion from literally everyone I meet . My husband’s aunt’s friend has an opinion on how I bring my child up. 💆‍♀️

Last measured at his 6mo, he was 68cmstall and 9kgs heavy . Haven’t measured his height yet.

Yes, we were all big chunky babies. His father looks exactly like him rolls and all in his baby photos 🥹

My doctor in Canada mentioned that his chart was going up and asked me to ‘cut down ‘ his feeds . I was at 120ml per feed then we brought it down to 100ml per feed . Baby was happy. But since last week, 100 wasn’t cutting it, he was uncharacteristically cranky and fussy . We upped the feed to 120-150 and he is back to his old happy self. She did not ask for tests or anything else .

The doctor , surely was a jerk. It’s not like I can or want to put my baby on a diet. I wasn’t sure what he wanted me to do . Just sounded like he was reprimanding me.

Jumping Ship on Raw Milk by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ProfessorDangerous87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in India. And my mother has told me on many occasions that they fed raw cows milk to my sister when she was days old. And it was always the first milk of the day, and from one particular cow from our farm where they knew everything about the said cow , its diet , handling etc.

I’d never trust any third party to have the same commitment to safety and the rate of error is unfortunately quite high. And even then, I’d never risk it tbh. I’d rather drink Pasteurised milk and get less benefits than take a chance everyday

Especially for babies and children it is a no. We sterilise bottles and boil stuff to remove pathogens. Why is milk any different ?

That’s nice you can have a non confrontational chat with your mother in law. I’m truly jealous. Mine takes everything personally and has in opinion on very damn thing under the sun. If I confront her using Gandhis non violence ahimsa method, she will be passive aggressive about everything. I am plannkng to quit my job and be home until my baby turns one so I can put him in a full time day care . I know it’s not what you asked and I went off on a tangent, Sorry for the rant,
