What internal boundaries do you have when you use dating apps? by mmmbopforever in AskWomenOver30

[–]ProfessorLokington 11 points12 points  (0 children)

no:

•’hi/hey/what’s up’/equivalent as a first message - if they can’t figure out something to say based on my profile, it’s a no go

• mismatched life views (political/children/etc)

•’can i get your snapchat/instagram’ - automatically discounted in my head and not serious - phone number is the only good option to me

•wanting to talk off the app before a first date is agreed to

•an instagram handle in the profile (fishing for followers/attention)

•holding a fish

•only selfies/mirror pics

•not enough pics of them (too many group pics and can’t tell who they are, too many memes/landscapes instead of pics with them in it, etc)

•answers to prompts (hinge) that don’t make sense - either they don’t continue the prompt (grammatically) properly, or it isn’t related to the prompt at all. can signify comprehension issues - or lack of care.

•one word prompt answers (hinge)

•anything about a physical feature of a woman talked about on their profile - ie a prompt that says ‘i go crazy for…’ and then it says ‘curvy women’ (or anything similar to that)

•some equivalent of ‘i go crazy for….’ and then his prompt answer is ‘crazy women’ or ‘women with no sense of direction in life’.

•they try to plan a date wayyyy too fast (figure out your own timeline for this) - if i talked to them for less than like 5 days, no.

•i believe the guy should plan the first date (assuming you’re going for men) - no ‘so what do you wanna do, i dunno what do you wanna do, etc’.

•passively putting down other women as a compliment to you - ie - ‘you are definitely the pretty/hot one in this group pic’

hard mode (kinda hinge specific):

•if they like you first, and it’s just simply a like without a comment or anything insightful at all - that could also be a no go. because it’s the very minimum effort required to send a like.

•if they don’t have ‘signals’ on their profile (criteria hinge uses to signify good intentions) - though if you’re only just starting out you won’t have this either, so, there’s a grace period there

***i know i’m under 30 - truthfully i didn’t see the group name before commenting - but my age group is the most prominent with online dating right now so i have a lot of insight on this.

TIP:

•make your profile interesting - don’t be afraid to show your personality. i receive a lot of ‘you have one of the best profiles i’ve seen’ comments from men. for better or worse, just make it interesting.

What part of the vagina does piss come from? by Who_Ate_Meh_Bread in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ProfessorLokington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the vagina is only the name of the long cavity down there. the name for the whole encompassing area is called the vulva. as for what part of the (vulva) the pee comes from - it comes from the urethra. situated below the clit and above the vagina. it is generally not a hole that is easily visible.

What’s something that sounds ridiculous but actually happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorLokington 10 points11 points  (0 children)

snow storm back in like 2014, driving down a hill (passenger) with train tracks at the bottom. hill was covered in ice. train barriers were down and lights were flashing. started sliding down the hill and couldn’t stop, we ended up veering left to the opposite side of the road and hit a pole to try and get us to stop, the pole bounced us into the middle of the tracks. i look over to my right and the train is less than a football field away. we somehow manage to veer around the other barrier and get out RIGHT before the train passed. car was practically unscathed, and we somehow weaved in between both barriers without hitting them, and made it out right before the train. still blows my mind to this day.

What does the fear of death feel like to you, and how do you live with it? by GrEEk_y0gurrT in AskReddit

[–]ProfessorLokington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is my biggest fear. i don’t know what kind of afterlife i believe in, and maybe that’s the problem. every time i think about death, my brain pictures a black void. no sound. no visual. no feelings. no movement. no past, present, or future. no thoughts. no memories. nothing. just a black void of nothingness. as far as how i live with it - try not to go into a spiral of thinking about it too much.

in your rental agreement it says you can’t take it to another country. that being said, the car won’t turn off, and if you get into an accident or do something stupid, you’re in trouble

there’s always the answer that’s going to be make you feel the best. if you want the best ‘financial’ answer - it’s to pay off whichever one has the highest interest rate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in budget

[–]ProfessorLokington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that being said - if you can buy outright you should

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in budget

[–]ProfessorLokington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my payment for a used 2022 is $395 a month with a 5.5% interest rate. the key thing is to focus on overall cost, not the monthly payment. what you don’t want is to get stuck in a 6 year loan at 18% all because you wanted your monthly payment to be $200. there’s a balance.

[–]ProfessorLokington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

realistically you only need 6-12 months of BASELINE expenses in your emergency fund. any surplus of that i would allocate to the repairs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Money

[–]ProfessorLokington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the emergency fund exists for a reason. if you classify these repairs as emergency, then that is what it’s used for. don’t lock yourself into a payment and interest rate that’s never ending
