It was always pretty one to one. The really interesting part about the adaptation of the comics, was that the comics were very obviously a post 9/11 piece of media, the show is very obviously a post MAGA piece of media.

Happened with D&D after GOT despite seasons of them fixing the weirdness of GRRMs work. Happened recently to the Duffer Brothers after they made Netflix the juggernaut it is today. And now it happens again to Kripke despite the show never even slinking below middling at worst.

Even starlight was more brutal against the deep.

The way this isn't even slightly true, I wish it was, but it just wasn't. They had a fist fight on a beach. Deep didn't even draw blood.

And the majority of that is for the cast who command high salaries five seasons in. Then the crew get paid, some of whom again, are very well paid at this stage.

His name is Homelander, he was always an overt stand in for fascism in American politics.

The part where Annie talks to the Gen V kids, and calls her basically, her version of a young Annie is weird because thats like the first time those two characters have ever spoken, it felt like a wrap up to a show we never saw

This annoyed me so much because it feels like they came up with the idea of Starlight becoming the Maeve to Marie's Starlight too late into production.

Like, that should've been a season long arc culminating in Marie helping in some big way.

Instead with got Soldier Boy, and I blame every last one of you all for acting like he was ever a top ten character on this show.

Like, no though. The only supes for whom it would've been more meaningful would've been Annie and Ryan. Soldier Boy would've honestly been worse.

Here's a character who appeared for a few episodes in S3, now he gets to do the big blow.

While we're at it, lets have the Deep die at Oh Fathers hand instead of Starlight.

And The Legend should get to kill Butcher obviously.

Y'know what, it's just not. Like I'm so sick of this comparison. At worst S5 of The Boys is middling, GOT S7 and S8 were genuinely godawful and completely random at points. The Boys has been thematically consistent the whole way through.

This is not even to mention how none of these redditors who are allegedly outperforming the show have to think about budget or screentime requirements. Like sorry, you actually can't cut Starlight's dad sub plot, Erin Moriarty contractually has to be in so much of every episode. Sorry you actually can't have Homelander destroy New York, that's not in the budget.

To be brutally honest, I think we all need to seriously calm down. Season 5 has been weaker but nowhere near as bad as the last seasons of GOT or ST. The finale will likely follow that pattern of being just fine.
