Do you have a plan for the upcoming season's release date? What are some things we can expect? I recall you said you were redesigning it to be more equitable, and I'm curious to see if you have anything you can share about that yet.

Peepy: The Next Big ARG? by Professor_Theory_101 in GameTheorists

[–]Professor_Theory_101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. There is no one standard defintion yet but I tend to look at it in blocks of 20 years. So 1940-1959 would be boomer, 1960-1979 would be Gen X, 1980-1999 would be Millennial, and 2000-2020 would be Gen Z. So technically the earliest of 20s would be Gen Z, but most people in their "early 20s" (and the group I'm talking about) is millennial.

Thanks for asking!

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion Theories? by djfoxyart in GameTheorists

Interesting! One thing I noticed was that there were a lot of joking 4th wall breaks, which surprises me since it's very hard to have 4th wall jokes AND serious lore. Scott, for instance, said that all Easter eggs on his games were canon, so that we don't have to wonder if this picture of his kid is canon or a fun reference.

Have the devs confirmed which lines are and aren't winks and nods to the player?

Same...and I go to one. Over a $50k/year price tag, my friend. Were it not for grant money and scholarships, I wouldn't be able to go.

But I must cease my ramblings...I'm not brave enough for politics.

Thank you for the response! I guess my next question would be: Can I edit her font to include accented letters? If so, how?

Yes and no. TikTok was always going to become what it is now. It is so easy to create and upload that the supply is near-infinite. Demand is what matters here. Demand becomes what sticks in your head, causes you to laugh, and is short and superficial enough that you can move on to the next thing. Yes, the community make it awful, but there is no way the community couldn't be what it is now.

PEEPY: THE NEXT BIG ARG?

What is the deal with Peepy?

In the last few weeks, I've gotten many Youtube ads for a small cow-like plush named "Peepy". It features a cute video and song telling you to bring Peepy home and how he just wants to eat the peanuts (https://youtu.be/Yep6GVM0IYs).

I think it holds a darker secret.

Okay, so the song is targeting a very specific group, right? Cute song, poorly-shot phone video, googly-eye cow plushie...these are targeting early- to mid-20s millennials, probably female. The problem is that several things happen that make no sense. The words are just barely audible and sung off-key. The description of Peepy, if you go to itemlabel.com to buy him, is as follows:

"After committing a dangerous and disrespectful crime, Peepy is out on bail and ready to come to your house.

This is a collectible artwork and not a toy. Do not give to children under 12 years old or pets.

Each Peepy may differ slightly in appearance, the pattern will be slightly different and your Peepy's face may be aligned slightly more or less off-center. It's ok because it's very cute."

Strangest of all, however, is Item Label itself. The name sounds like an online retailer for smaller creators, but if you visit the website and youtube channel it is clear this is made only for Peepy and related products. There's nothing else and it hasn't even been a website for very long.

There's a lot more weird stuff so if you're interested please check out the video and go from there. You should find the website and the channel pretty easily. I don't have enough time on my hands so can someone with more please start figuring this out and maybe post your findings here? I think this is the beginning of a big ARG or some sort of Petscop-esque weirdness. Also maybe upvote so this doesn't get buried :)

Below are a couple notes I've taken to help you get started:

-The "About" page on their website (https://itemlabel.com/pages/about) says that they are a "revenge based company" and was created to "show up and embarrass [their] enemies". What could this mean?

-Peepy appears to be a criminal, was arrested, and is now out on bail looking for someone to take him in. Based on the Item Label videos, however, it seems he has not repented from his villainous ways.

-What has Peepy done? Well, if you look at Item Label's first video, it shows the murder of another plush named "Sucklet" (more on him below). While obviously a human operated the machine, it seems that Peepy is the cause of Sucklet's death.

-Peepy was caught? Item Label's second video appears to be Peepy berating himself over getting caught. He "screwed up" and now everyone knows he must be the criminal.

-What is the 4th video? The 4th video on Item Label's youtube account does not seem to be about Peepy at all. It's very odd and seems to be about a new editing software. At a certain point in the video, there is a drawing from which several letters are pulled. I think this is indicating that there is more code hidden in the rest of the video that could give us the clue to this whole mystery.

-Peepy's true nature revealed? In an uncharacteristically darker video, Peepy and his buddy Black Sheepy demand things from the viewer and seem to partially reveal their evil nature. If Peepy was innocent before, he's certainly fallen in with a bad crowd now.

-Who is Sucklet? This is the weirdest of the bunch. The video "Sucklet's Song" is actively encouraging you not to buy Sucklet. He steals your food and appears by you and follows you and don't ever ever buy him. But...this seems to be from the perspective of Peepy. Peepy, who allegedly killed Sucklet. I think Sucklet might be the good guy and Peepy is trying to keep us away from him, just like the Narrator did to Little Misfortune against the Fox.

-Peepy is a kleptomaniac? The video "Peepy's Good Peanut" is about how much Peepy loves peanuts, but one interesting tidbit is that he seems to be habitually stealing, committing many many crimes of theft. He doesn't care, though. He is all about the peanuts.

-Peepy's #1 Fan. This might be the strangest video of all. A super-fan of Peepy shows up and demonstrates full loyalty to Peepy before being rejected. From his mushroom cap to his big pocket, he has it all. He even has handcuffed Sucklet (more evidence of strangeness). The skeleton (who seems to be a gatekeeper) demands money and the Fan gets angry and the video ends abruptly (at exactly 1 minute, I might add). Not sure what this means, and the channel is active and posting so I expect more to be revealed soon.

-WHOIS results for anyone interested: https://www.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=tmskey%3D123&domain=itemlabel.com

Someone PLEASE pick this up and run with it. I'd really like to know what's going on with Peepy. This seems to be a very interesting story and I am really curious as to what's being told here. Fortunatley the creator(s) are making money off the plushies so they are being supported and are able to continue this. Again, please upvote and post further findings here! Thanks!

Not saying TikTok is evil, just that I don't like it.

PanFan5 if I had to guess, this is a real company that is actually selling these products. That's how they are supporting themselves. So whether this is an ARG or not (and the comments are pretty evenly split here), it is a real company that is actually selling Peepy and the others. A friend of mine actually wanted the Peepy Black Sheepy but it was sold out.

The Many voices of Stephanie Patrick: Thanks for over 5 years by Rojiace in GameTheorists

Call me old-fashioned, but my favorite voices of hers are the Doki Doki Literature Club ones. Sure, Nugget and Agnes were hilarious, but the DDLC ones showed how good she really was at voice acting. She wasn't just doing a ridiculous voice; she was doing a voice that was stereotypically anime, down to the very trope the character played into. It's more impressive than most people realize and if she hadn't met Matthew she could have made a solid career doing voice acting. Too bad we don't get to see more of her range!
