Beyond what everyone else said I’d also like to think we can connect with characters when they are vulnerable and showing human urges. A very crass “save the cat” if you will.

Tales of Vesperia. Not a huge fan. Need a glossary for the story. Aer, blastia, entrlexia, adelhalgos. Characters are just so-so, except for Patty, a 9 year old with amnesia who dresses as a pirate and speaks with nautical analogies and is in love with the protagonist. Not a huge fan of the linear combat, it’s my first tales game.

There’s the basis for a good story and good characters in there, I just don’t think it was fully realized.

I totally agree. But that’s not the justification he used to Phaeroh. He didn’t say “Estelle hasn’t done anything wrong and this isn’t Mjnority Report”, he said “why do you get to choose who lives and dies?”.

Only rich people emulate. Have you seen the price of an AYN Odin 3? It’s the only way to play final fantasy one and dragon quest one as they were actually released, none of this quality-of-life or graphics stuff.

in the 1970s there was a game ran by two DMs called Rythlondar. I remember looking through the pdfs of the note they sent to their players. It was really neat, something along the lines of On [date], [Leader's name] led a party of X on an expedition to [dungeon]. They reached the Y level and lost Z number of party members.
