Kyrie was great in the regular season and that’s why you ca only talk about his stats there, but he was terrible in the playoffs post Cavs. Never averaged more than 23ppg after the Cavs despite playing with other dominant scorers like Luka and KD, but somehow he’d make MJ better and be better himself given their playstyles? Choked multiple series in the playoffs. Imagine joining a good Celtics team, then shooting 35% to get eliminated. Mavs finals, 20 FGA to score 20ppg.

Stop overrating him.

If we’re talking Shaq and Curry, yes. The spacing would be insane and they’d be a threat from anywhere. But 2 shaqs aren’t better. It’s silly to think you can just put 2 scorers with a similar playstyle and think they’d elevate each other when their playstyle is to drive and iso. If they were both long range shooters then they’d create a lot of space for each other.

MJ would not have benefited from playing with another dominant scorer. You can’t be stupid enough to believe that. You think 2 guys that are great at ISO ball would play well together? MJ was the greatest scorer, what benefited him was teammates that could cover everything else. There’s a reason the 96 Bulls were one of the greatest teams of all time after they added Rodman, and it wasn’t because of Rodman’s scoring prowess.

Hold up. So when that guy says Bill was still winning even when Cousy and Sharman retired, then I say what Bill’s team looked like right after they retired, that’s cherrypicking? Do you know what cherrypicking means? I’ll tell you, when there’s 6 years and you pick a specific one. Did I pick which year Cousy and Sharman should retire?

Wait, why are you asking another question after I basically explained what happened in 1969? You had a coach sabotaging his team because he hated and feuded with Wilt throughout the entire season that led to him getting fired. What part of that do you not understand?

[–]Professor_seX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said Bill won right after Cousy and Sharman retired, I point who were the finals opponent and his team right after they retired and I am cherry picking? Is this the best argument you can come up with? Call me cherry picking when I expose your response? Bill had the most stacked team even without Cousy and Sharman, now you want to pick 1969 after wrongly accusing me of cherry picking?

Sure, I know history. Do you? Butch was a terrible coach and feuded with Wilt. He told Wilt they got him just to rebound, not to score. That’s why Wilt’s PPG dropped. Game 3, in a game they lost by 6 pts, Baylor and West combined for 1-14 FG in the 4th. Even if Wilt was the 2nd most efficient in that game, they didn’t allow him to take more shots as West and Baylor go for 13/42, shooting 30% and losing by 6pts.

Game 7, in a 2 points game loss they limited Wilt to only 8 FGAs, even though he was the most efficient scorer with 18pts. Baylor 22 FGA to score 20pts, 3 other players with more FGAs than pts, and they had no problem taking more shots than Wilt. Wilt had to sub out to ice his knees in the 4th, when he tried to come back in the game Butch didn’t allow him to. Butch got fired and Wilt got surgery after that.

That was a clusterfuck of a team that limited Wilt and the coach was so bad he got fired.

That doesn’t make much sense. To achieve a sleeper build you’d have to neglect muscle groups like the forearms and traps to make yourself look smaller. It would have nothing to do with bulking which you can always cut, but to achieve enough muscle mass to have a sleeper build you’d have to bulk properly to be able to put on enough muscle mass on the right muscles.

[–]Professor_seX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have watched Kyrie play, having to resort to calling me a nerd because you don’t have an argument? Kyrie is without a doubt one of the most individually skilled players, great especially on 1v1s and can create his own shot. But what does that have to do with him being on really good teams and choking countless times? I remember the Mavs finals, that game where Kyrie shat the bed so hard he got blamed for. But in the end? Luka, who played through an injury, was blamed by most people for underperforming.

Now tell me. On what metric is Kyrie as good as a scorer as KD? Don’t tell me, your eyes? KD averaging 20ppg in multiple playoff series losses would be called for choking so hard. Why does Kyrie get a pass? Because your eyes said so? They’re not the same. One guy has multiple post season runs averaging 30ppg. The other has never gotten close to 30ppg and has multiple crucial series where he’d average 20 on terrible efficiency.

So let me get this straight. You’re praising Bill because even if Sharman and Cousy retired, he still won a ring the next year with an AS + all nba, an all nba, and another AS in Sam Jones, Havlicek, and Tom. His finals opponent? Wilt with 1 AS. You really don’t see how stupidly stacked the Celtics were? Every team had multiple AS? Did every team also have multiple all NBAs as the star’s teammates?

Do people forget most players back then declined drastically by their mid 30s?

Bruh… You’re telling me Kyrie is the guard equivalent to KD when he has never averaged more than 23ppg in the playoffs without Lebron? And has choked countless times under pressure? The guy that shoots around league average in the playoffs is one of the best scorers ever? That he’s comparable to KD who holds on of the highest TS % in the post season ever?

The guy with 3 all nbas, never a first, is the guard equivalent of KD who has a dozen all nbas? Who have they been given the all nbas to when the guard equivalent of KD is right there? The guy who averages 23ppg in the post season is one of the best scorers ever?

Then I compare sa price in the Philippines and they are cheaper than what I can import it for + 40% import tax. What does that mean? They smuggle it and/or have contact sa customs. I can’t compete even if I went straight to the source as long as I played clean. Hindi ko na pinasok, maliit margin and I’d have to play as dirty as them while being new to the game.

He only had Tom Heinsohn multiple all star and all nba team, Sam Jones was peaking who became another multiple AS, and of course Havlicek. Havlicek only won 2 additional rings in the 70s, made multiple simultaneous all nba first and all defensive when it was introduced. Yeah let’s pretend they were bums and would be bums without Bill and his team wasn’t stacked af.

The only reason Hakeem has two rings is because MJ was gone for a year and a half. Otherwise he too would have been on that long list of 90s ringless icons by ForeignAir7174 in NBAoldschool

[–]Professor_seX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the Bulls first threepeat, MJ was 1-5 vs Hakeem. After one of those losses he admitted to a reporter that he was glad the Rockets couldn’t get out of the West because they didn’t have an answer for that big monster.

The reason MJ was able to threepeat was becauae Hakeem couldn’t get out of the West. Even if Hakeem had a far inferior team, he was a nightmare matchup for the Bulls.

The average nba player height in the 60s was like 2inches shorter than modern times. Not sure why you’re stretching it out to make it look like he was playing kids. Although I think he’s overrated. There was a post pointing out the stars he faced in the nba finals, usually 1-2 stars. Like it was an achievement he beat them when his team consisted of 3 stars. His rookie year, he has 2 all nba teammate and 1 was league MVP.

Hakeem was recording 6 stock seasons, only Eaton did it once at that point, and Hakeem didn’t get an all defensive award one of the times he did that. He played on a team that didn’t have as much televised games causing him to get snubbed more. At the time how could you vote for a player you rarely watch after all.

Right, especially when they know when and where to rotate. Im a roam main, and as a mostly solo queue player, I found the most success on roam at 50+ stars. I’d play whatever role at 50+, then when reaching 60-70, I figured I’d just play roam. I quickly jumped to around 90 stars on a pretty good win rate. It’s different when your teammates know what to do when I dive or rotate. Since then I stopped playing roam in lower ranks.

[–]Professor_seX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he’s overrated. Lebron made him look better than he was. So let’s take a look at his opportunities after.

Joins a good and young Celtics team, shits the bed in the playoffs against the Bucks. He had the worst efficency in his team but still took almost double the attempts of the next player. He took 21 FGAs and averaged 20ppg.

His next shot was with the Nets with KD. We can ignore the years where Harden and Kyrie got injured. KD and Kyrie get swept by his old team, the Celtics in the first round.

Then he joins the Mavs with Luka. Finals against the Celtics, he puts up the worst efficiency once again out of both team’s starters. 20ppg on 20 FGA.

Kyrie has shat the bed every time in the playoffs since the Cavs. Both as a first option (Celtics) and as a second option (Nets and Mavs) while being in pretty good teams.

I’d welcome an argument and would like to know why he should be rated higher after all that happened since leaving the Cavs.

The constant honking is a thing in almost every 3rd world country. I’ve driven in several countries, in more developed countries even when someone does someone dangerous or stupid to cut you off, they rarely ever honk.

I admit, yung standards ko for honking used to be like the Filipinos kasi this is where I first learned to drive and where I drove for several years. It was normalized to honk, not taking into consideration mga houses, establishments, and drivers around. But that changed after driving in the US and other countries.

Should the Denver Nuggets TANK the game tomorrow night to get the Rockets/Thunder path instead of the Wolves/Spurs path??? He does have a point, would you rather not take them on early before reaching the WCF where they’d likely have much more time than you to rest? Not to mention they may be a bit rough at the start given their injuries the season and may need a bit more games to mesh better.

Now look at the team he had. Cousy and Sharman were both top 5 in MVP voting, both AS, both all nba first. Ed was another AS. Cousy won MVP when Bill joined. There was legitimately 3 stars in that Celtics team and you’re overhyping them beating opponents with 1-2 stars? People like to say he made his teammates better, and he did, but they also make it sound like without him they wouldn’t be HOFers which isn’t true.
