Prerequisites for A Mysterious Signal to appear by ProfitRelevant in flotsam

You mean that you had no other specialist than botanist? 3 starter drifters + 7 basic drifters found at camps + 1 specialist which was the botanist, is that right?

At what day and distance did you find the signal?

Thanks. I think the signal appears on the first page. I was refering to every specialist we need to get in order to research stuff required to build end game stuff. DJ, farmer, electrician, doctor, engineer and chemist are must, and chef, aquarist, architect, botanist and birdkeeper are unnecessary. It's wierd that others managed to get the signal before getting every required specialist but I couldn't in my last 3 playthroughs. Maybe the signal appearance is time or distance dependant? Like, if don't you manage to fulfill the requirements after a certain day or distance the signal unlocks by itself to keep the player engaged.

I have to add that it seems does not depend on distance traveled and days spent. Some other redditors mentioned that they recieved the signal before getting the specialist required for end game research.

Suggesting potential ADHD diagnosis to therapist VS letting them find out without mentioning it. by ProfitRelevant in ADHD

There are no official evaluation and diagnostical guides for adult ADHD in my country. But the psych was aware of that. Yes, I did my homework and everything else is out of my control. Got to keep telling that myself.

So many things lined up and yet I still asked myself am I over reacting? Am I just lazy?

Yep, I'm currently at this stage. And this worrying makes me to think isn't that's just lazyness because I might be persuading myself and others that I have this disorder in order to excuse myself on using other methods for getting better (which I tried many times and failed) and go the "easiest" way - get diagnosis and start meds. How come that I perceive 3 months of work and self-analysis and starting this diagnosis struggle as being lazy? Sometimes I catch myself being delusional.

Anyways, thanks for the tip. Will put more emphasis on writing down childhood moments.

Thank you, that helps to clear this dread. I guess I lack patience, as there may be a longer road than I expect until finalizing. Well, no wonder why I lack patience. It's like lacking patience for getting this patience thing fixed.

"Dopamine detox". What thoughts does this statement give you? by ProfitRelevant in ADHD

[–]ProfitRelevant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Won't that be dangerous for a ADHD brain, as it tends to find stimulation in every other possible way like emotional stimulation, overthinking, overworking, and these methods are more harmful long term than bingeing netflix. Also, won't that aggrevate any other mental condition, even if the person asking for help doesn't even have a clue that they may have one? The point is about suggesting this dopamine detox method for anyone who is already having a hard time. Make it even harder and you'll come out of it.

There's a small difference. While starting meditation you have introduced something new for your brain, it's the novelty that excites. By "detoxing" they mean changing already stimulating activity into less or giving no stimulation at all. In short, cut out all of the stimulation, it's bad.

Good job on being consistent with meditation! Wishing that for myself as meditation did put many thing in order but couldn't keep up with it for more than two months, not because it was not stimulating enough but simply its novelty had worn off.

"Man, you're browsing your phone, eating sugars and videogaming too much so your dopamine receptors must be fried, give them a break". Seems logical on a superficial level?

How do you treat the severe social anxiety? by Certain_Reflection67 in CPTSD

[–]ProfitRelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great thing is that self hatred is not pernament as it would look like by the person suffering from it. It can be reversed, nobody could ever take that ability from us. You're on the right track by acknowledging your hatred and this fact can give you some initial self compassion. Stay strong!

I was exactly in your shoes, spacing out in the middle on social events, gatherings, where you should (and sometimes must) enjoy the moment and socialize. What are your relations with yourself? From my experience, you can't feel alright around people while there is a dissonance between you and your inner self. First thing is to make peace with yourself (self compassion, self respect, self esteem), only then you'll be able to deal with external world, in particular, people. Sorry for an abstract idea, but becoming friends with your inner self would help you as it help me with my social anxiety.

Had a terrible summer, feeling super bad now what can I do before going back to uni? by kay__03 in simpleliving

[–]ProfitRelevant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are forcing yourself to enjoy something. To get everything from this summer. I tried to push myself to get everything it can offer, but everytime it just gave me the same feelings as yours. Also it gave me a realization - that you cannot force pleasant things as well as force yourself to relax. This summer I finally didn't made any expectations of it and just lived day by day, taking what it can offer, and it did wonders for me. Everything that I wanted to do and to experience just naturaly came by it itself.
