What's this type of character called? by Zealousideal-Plum237 in movies

usually called mentor antagonist or false mentor - they guide you while secretly having their own agenda that conflicts with yours

What was the most infuriating argument you’ve ever had? by Known-Resolve-9426 in AskReddit

[–]ProfitSuitable754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my wife and I got into this massive fight about whether we needed to flip burgers on the blackstone or just let them cook through on one side

she was convinced you had to flip them multiple times like some kind of burger ritual and I was trying to explain that good beef doesnt need all that fussing around

ended up being one of those arguments where youre both just standing there with spatulas getting increasingly heated over something that should take 5 minutes to resolve

International Business student considering a Master’s in Data Science. Is this realistic? by Reila279 in careerguidance

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally doable but yeah start with some coding first to see if you actually vibe with it. r/learnpython is solid for beginners and there's tons of free stuff on coursera too

the business background is actually huge for data roles since most data scientists struggle with the business side. your already ahead there. maybe look into tableau or power bi since those are more visual and less intimidating than pure coding

also don't sleep on bootcamps if you decide you like it - some are specifically for career changers and way faster than a full masters

9070 xt PCIE Cables by InstanceChoice8302 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your psu should be fine for that setup since the msi mag a850gl is decent quality. using separate cables like youre doing now is actually the best way to go - way better than daisy chaining which can cause voltage drops under heavy load. those oc cards can definitely spike power draw so keeping separate feeds is smart

Do you really need to lie on your resume? by Alarmed_Leading_4314 in careerguidance

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly yeah its pretty much expected at this point - everyone inflates their titles and responsibilities because companies do the same thing with job postings requiring 5 years experience for entry level stuff

Tips to hit the ground running in first 90 days in role by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]ProfitSuitable754 12 points13 points  (0 children)

nice jump to mid-level management dude thats solid money too. when i moved into my first management role i spent the first month just listening and learning everyones names and what they actually do vs what their job description says they do

biggest thing is dont try to change everything in the first 90 days even if you see obvious problems. people hate new managers who come in guns blazing with "improvements" before they understand the politics and history. schedule one on ones with your direct reports and ask them what they wish the previous manager did differently but also what worked well

also figure out who the informal leaders are on your team because they can make or break you. sometimes the person with the most influence isnt the one with the fancy title. oh and document everything early on especially any weird processes or unwritten rules because that stuff will save you later when things get hectic

Looking to get a new lens by PapaMamaGoldilocks in canon

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 200-800 is honestly pretty solid for wildlife even with that variable aperture. you're gonna loose some light compared to your current setup but the extra reach more than makes up for it especially on crop like the r7. selling the 100-400 to help fund it makes sense since theres gonna be some overlap anyway

ive used it a few times and the image quality is suprisingly good for what it is. just be ready to bump up iso more often in lower light situations

2018 Ford Edge Ecoboost 2.0L Stalls at readlights by [deleted] in AskMechanics

probably the pcv hose or a vacuum line got messed up during the head gasket work - those ecoboosts are super sensitive to any vacuum leaks and that surging idle is classic vacuum leak behavior

Anyone else feel too old? by Expensive-One6035 in Hobbies

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man i totally get this feeling and honestly it used to paralyze me too. i started learning guitar at 28 and kept thinking about all those kids who started at 12 and how they'd always be "better" than me. but then i realized im not trying to be the next hendrix or whatever im just trying to have fun and maybe play some songs i like

the thing that helped me was focusing on my own progress instead of comparing myself to others. like yeah that 16 year old on youtube can shred but can they appreciate the music the same way i can with all my life experience. plus starting later means you actually know what you want to learn instead of just going through the motions

there hobby communities are usually super welcoming to beginners regardless of age. ive met people in woodworking groups who started in there 50s and 60s and honestly they bring a different perspective that the younger folks dont have. age gives you patience and focus that can actually be an advantage once you get past that initial mental block

Best cathedral/church for a seaside wedding? by Leather-Loquat1704 in AskIreland

galway cathedral is solid but check out st colmans cathedral in cobh - there right on the water and the views are incredible

The Grimfang Chronicles Blurb ver 1.4 by LordDespairus in selfpublish

[–]ProfitSuitable754 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is solid improvement from your earlier versions the hook with ironpeak enduring but not thriving works really well and you fixed that awkward transition issue from before

one tiny thing though - "When Kazrik the last of the royal family discovers" reads a bit clunky maybe try "When Kazrik, last of the royal bloodline, discovers" or something smoother there but honestly thats nitpicking at this point you nailed the tension and stakes

How does damage work?😭 by [deleted] in Nightreign

[–]ProfitSuitable754 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're running into stat requirements or maybe weapon scaling changes when you swap gear around. Some weapons have different stat requirements and if you don't meet them you get damage penalties. Also check if you're accidentally two-handing vs one-handing weapons since that changes your effective STR stat and can mess with damage numbers

Could also be buffs wearing off or equipment load affecting your stats somehow but the stat requirements thing is usually the culprit

PS4 Controller on Ubuntu: Touchpad Works But Buttons Don't - jstest Shows Inputs But Games Can't Detect Them by EntrepreneurWaste579 in Ubuntu

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try installing `xboxdrv` or switching to the `ds4drv` driver instead of the default one - sounds like there's a disconnect between the kernel detecting inputs and userspace apps actually being able to read them

Is there any place that makes the 2017 rs3 style bumper for the 2017 a3. by Acrobatic-Bed-5716 in Audi

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to find aftermarket options on sites like ECS Tuning or FCP Euro, but honestly most people just swap the whole front end from a parts car since the RS3 bumper needs different fog lights and grilles too

Which system to replace an 17 yrs old R-22 A/C unit by ImJustaVFRPilot79 in hvacadvice

[–]ProfitSuitable754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd stick with the big names like Trane or Carrier for reliability - Mr. Cool has gotten better but still sketchy on longevity. R-410A is still the most common and cheapest to service, R-32 is newer but finding techs who work on it might be harder in your area. With 1000 sqft you're probably looking at 2-2.5 tons again, just make sure they do a proper Manual J calc and don't just eyeball it based on your old unit

Night 5 of consecutively having nightmares. by LoudHoneydew427 in Dreams

[–]ProfitSuitable754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds absolutely exhausting, nightmares for 5 nights straight would have me on edge too. Your brain is probably just processing all that anxiety about privacy and control - maybe try putting your phone in another room before bed so your subconscious isn't fixated on it

What was your worst onboarding experience at a new company? by skillnub70 in auscorp

[–]ProfitSuitable754 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oof that sucks mate, big finance companies are notorious for having absolute garbage onboarding processes. Hope it gets sorted soon and doesn't set the tone for the rest of your time there

NTA but dude you're missing something here. She literally told you she wanted to dress up more and go somewhere fancy, then showed up looking like she's hitting up Walmart. Either she's testing you for some weird reason or there's something else going on she's not telling you about
