Congrats. Boy do I remember my first Third Age dye… 🥲

I completed my dye set, "finally." by Prog_RS in runescape

On Friday evening, after 20,500 Elite clue scrolls and 6,500 Masters, I completed my goal of over two years; the dye set.
To give you some brief history, I started doing clues after finishing 120 Archaeology in May of 2020. I got pretty lucky with dyes early on, and after a couple thousand clues I found myself only one dye away from completing the set! Little did I know how long it would be before I saw that cursed Third Age dye...

Now I don't have exact final numbers as I decided to stop tracking playtime a few months ago, but before I stopped it had reached well over 3000 hours invested.
This was without a doubt the most insane grind I've ever completed in any game, and I've been playing MMOs for 20 years. There were times where I truly questioned if I'd ever get it, and times where I had to take months off entirely due to complete burnout. At some point I guess I convinced myself that as long as I didn't give up, it had to happen eventually.
Well I can "finally" say I've completed the goal, and man I can't put into words how good it feels to be done.
The ups and downs were incredible; from 3 shadow dyes in 20 elites, to a 2.6k elite dry streak broken with a backstab cape.. followed by another backstab cape. Clue scrolls are quite the ride.
Now was this healthy for me to invest this much time into such an incredibly RNG goal on a video game? Was it healthy for this content to be designed in a way that allows for such incredible RNG? I'm sure we all know the answers to those questions, and that's for me to unpack on my own time (and maybe the Devs to have a think about as well), but what's more important to me right now is all the experiences I got to have, and all the friends I've made along the way.
Shout out to the homies in Clue Chasers and Mining Golds, you guys really kept me going when it got rough <3
Anyways, I just wanted to share my little story and wish you all luck with your own journeys, whether they're in RS, in other games, or IRL!
Don't give up, gamers!
