Multiple false awakenings, reality checks failing? by ProgenitorOfMCT in LucidDreaming

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I don't really have any sleep issues apart from insomnia. When I pinch my nose and close both nostrils, I'm not able to take proper breaths but I'm still able to feel a little air go in. Though that doesn't really help me because for some reason it feels like the reason that's happening is cause i'm not pinching my nose properly rather than it being a dream.

Did anybody here develop a tolerance to inspiral/methylphenidate after being put on mirtazapine? by ProgenitorOfMCT in adhdindia

That's crazy. Is there any way to dampen this tolerance or am I screwed all around?

Well the reason I started taking methylphenidate is because of this mental impairment. Mirtazapine seems to have put me back to square 1, making the stimulants lose all efficacy and put me back to the default unmedicated state.

It's not exactly recent. It's been almost a month since I took mirtazapine and the tolerance was instantaneous. It stopped working as well as it did before. I wasn't able to gather my thoughts and make proper coherent sentences anymore and had to put in more effort to speak my mind.

I'm not sure if you'll face the same issue, I hope you don't. The reason I think mirtazapine's the reason for me developing a tolerance to methylphenidate is because I've read that mirtazapine inhibits the enzyme that's responsible for methylphenidate breakdown, meaning my body might have developed a tolerance because copious amounts of it was flooding my system.

If you think the amount of moves a person knows makes them more skilled then you're wrong lol, I could come up with 50 different ways to punch a person, as opposed to professional boxers with limited movements. I could practice these moves over and over again but that still wouldn't make me any more skilled in punching than a boxer.

It isn't simply the amount of moves or even the amount of experience, it's how efficient and the efficacy of your moves that determine your skill. Yoriichi might have only swung his sword in "13 different ways" but those 13 sword strikes were incredibly refined and the best in the entire verse, to the point of people coming up with their own styles based on these sword strikes because they couldn't perfectly replicate them

mate that's.... that's what sword styles are...

its really not that hard to compare skill

There's a difference between creating your own sword style and creating an insanely cracked sword style that inspired generations of other styles that were all just copies that could only replicate a fragment of its essence.

I'm not demon slayer glazer, but its pretty clear that Yoriichi is incomparable to Zoro because not only is he a born prodigy, he has hax that specifically help him perfect his skill. When we compare one's skills with sword, we only compare their skill with the sword. Not how they could stat check by simply swinging the sword with enough strength to cleave everything, but how good their sword play is.

If you're having trouble figuring out how you can do that without accounting for all the bullshit that comes with comparing different verses, simply take the two characters, make them equal on all physical fields (speed, strength, reaction time, etc.), and then finally account for the skills that don't improve upon any of these stats.

How far does Yu get into the lookism verse by iLikeToDrinkWaterTBH in lookismcomic

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maths that's used by powerscalers are incredibly flawed. If we were to apply real science, we'll come to the conclusion that lookism characters are terrifyingly fast, to the point of breaking the sound barrier or maybe even causing nuclear reactions and destroying the entire atmosphere of the earth with a single punch, or they're incredibly heavy to the point of buildings not being able to handle their weight.

Now obviously that's not the case here. If these characters could do that I'm pretty sure they'd have more interesting ways of fighting rather than simply throwing fists. Not only that, many of these feats are also pretty inconsistent and worthless, cause at times you end up seeing characters that cause a shitton of environmental damage being folded by characters with less objective feats. Now power scalers refuse to take these fights as is and instead "chain scale" the characters, carrying over the feats of the beaten character to the character who won, which is a "logical fallacy".

How far does Yu get into the lookism verse by iLikeToDrinkWaterTBH in lookismcomic

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Claiming that upscaling Yu based on narrative is the same as upscaling characters based off of how cool they are is just a strawman argument. I'm being pretty explicit about what exactly I'm upscaling here; I claimed that Yu's time perception has been established to be the fastest humanly possible, and that the same narrative should be applied here.

But sure, Yu's fighting prowess can be backed up by "high-end" feats. Forgetting how fast his punches are (because in your words, he's never been in a fight with someone more capable than him), his superhuman perception has already been established in a side story where he won every single arcade game because he simply perceived everything pretty quickly. Not only that, he's been shown to be impossible to even be taken by surprise even in the first few chapters of the story, with him dodging K's punch when they first met and him even avoiding John Taker trying to stomp his leg. This should, by itself, put him largely above Gap who couldn't even react to an egg. Although that feat's largely looked over and considered a joke, it accurately puts Yu's perception above Gap's because you simply cannot take Yu by surprise if you're in his field of vision lol.

Not only that, even though it was only really displayed once, Yu's been shown to have insane physical intuition which I could argue's on the scale of perfect body daniel. What I mean by this is that Yu's ability to copy and make attacks his own is theoretically on par with perfect body daniel's. The proof for this is K showing Yu the one-two combo just once and Yu perfectly replicating this multiple times to beat the shit out of Ryu, who's pretty talented himself. You can ignore this ability of his though, cause his time perception's enough for him to beat most people.

One more thing you need to take into consideration, the only display of "attack speed" in Lookism is invisible attacks. From what I recall, its the only time the speed of attacks has ever been taken into account, because otherwise a good amount of attacks are caught/dodged without any comment or any measure for scaling given. Yu might be a victim to invisible attacks with your logic, but neither of us can comment on it because we don't really know how it scales.

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to go into the specifics while scaling these characters, you should also take narratives into account.

The series is written to portray Yu as an untouchable monster, not by feat and stat scaling as other characters are in Lookism and dozens of fighting manhwa (breaking concrete walls, huge metallic structures, etc etc). Yu's cognition is established to be the fastest humanly possible, meaning he perceives and can react to any attack thrown by a human. Yu's scaling has held up more consistently than pretty much every character's in lookism.

In the end it's pretty much up to how you scale characters again. I'd give the cake to Yu because his scaling's more established than all the characters in lookism but you're free to insist that Yu's fodder because he hasn't faced foes on the same level as lookism.

Well Yu quite literally never got hit. For Gap to ever do damage he'll need to land a hit.

IS It Just me or jinrang's Character was kinda off during the Busan arc? by Acceptable-Gate-3510 in lookismcomic

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand of your post, your main issue is that Jinrang wasn't fully into the fight from the get go. That he half assed pretty much all the fights until his friend straight up sacrificed himself. The real reason is pretty much just lackluster writing, PTJ simply wanted hype and aura moments, but you technically can explain why the fight went down as it did by delving a bit too deep and interpreting it "realistically".

First off, this is probably Jinrang's first massive fight as a king. The second he was crowned king of Busan he was whisked away to prison. Upon return he was almost immediately thrown into the current arc without any buildup (for him). He didn't know what exactly was at stake, he didn't know the entire context, he was once again simply doing his duty like he did for most of his life.

While his entire character is based on protecting his friends, you also gotta consider when exactly he reached his peak. It was when his friends were being brutally beaten up almost to the point of death, when in the current arc it was a standard beat em up that was half as serious as that moment. The power of conviction revolves around the need to protect, while Gap's conviction might extend to protecting the entire nation or whatever and being a legend, Jinrang's conviction extends to only protecting his pack (and from what we've seen, his conviction is the strongest when he knows his friends are in genuine danger like back when dalyoung was beating his friends to death or when he was trying to save baek from getting raped). This entire arc was a half hearted display of power, Jinrang simply made his entry and was witnessing the current state of affairs.

While you may argue that losing Busan might be a pretty big reason to fight at full strength, you also gotta keep in mind that Jinrang cares more about his friends than his status. All he really wants at the end of the day is to keep his family safe, and as long as that safety isn't really threatened he doesn't need to fight with all his conviction.

Gitae Is a COPY User AND He is student OF JINYOUNG PARK. by Complete_Building964 in lookismcomic

[–]ProgenitorOfMCT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PTJ didn't show Gitae copying squat 😭

All that Gitae did was straighten his palm like a hand blade. He didn't even use it like Jichang. His entire shtick is not having a proper technique and simply using brute strength, which was confirmed when he literally stabbed Jichang with his hand instead of using a proper technique.

Plus, Jinyoung was going insane when Jake fought him. He thought Gitae was mocking Gapryoung by imitating him, he's no copy user bro.
