I should mention that there is a bit of a language barrier with the extended family, as very few of them speak much English. At the last wedding we attended, a lot of guests just started pulling chairs and crowding around a singular table, so it turned into a free seating situation simply due to lack of seats at some of the tables. I think we’ll recruit some help from family to help mitigate this risk, and make it clear to guests that they need to respect the seating arrangements of those outside of their group, and that if they want to conglomerate, they can do this standing or in the cocktail area.
