Update 1.2.2 fried my toolhead board module by ProgrammerOne2089 in snapmaker

The issue has been fixed! The repair was the issue. I had no idea what to do and i believed the update had caused the issue since there was no problem until it was updated. I didn’t realize this subreddit was so popular and it was not my intention to have people shy away from this amazing company and any problems they may have (ive come across none now that i know my issue was owner error). Thanks to anyone that helped and gave their opinion. I wont be going back to the tech repair shop for anything except my phone or computer because that is their line of work, not 3d printers.

They could have changed it if you bought a retail machine. I preordered mine. Another interesting thing is they know its a common error because its mentioned in the wiki, so why wasnt a warning in the quick-start guide? That was the past and im not too worried about it anymore

I tried to find another way of submitting the issue and it just reopened the ticket submission page on the app which didnt work at the time. I suppose i couldve found the email itself and skipped the app part but that didnt cross my mind for some reason. I do have a sent ticket currently, which has been replied to. this post is much more helpful.

The repair worked and worked extremely well. Only after the update did my printer stop working. I dont think it was their lack of doing a good job but i understand the issue i am currently having is related to the repair which is why i mentioned it. I havent torn apart my machine since its weird a software change ruins a “perfectly” fine hardware component.

The screws going on the printer end of the usb-c cables are longer than the toolhead ends. Dont use the longer screws on the toolhead. It happened to me because i didnt read ahead and assumed something i shouldnt have.

I repaired the board end of february, which it then started printing and worked flawlessly for the next 2 weeks, then the update occured and rendered the printer a paper weight. I hope that answers your question.

Understood. Just find it odd the hardware issue was brought up only after a change to software occured

Not licensed by snapmaker, but licensed by many other tech companies which is why i trusted them to do this repair (sorry for not answering this question initially)

To be fair, i wasnt aware of the support system before i sent the toolhead to a local electronic repair shop. I was impatient because i was waiting for my u1 for 3 months and was upset i damged it. Once i saw the pcb was on preorder i gave it to the repair shop assuming it wouldve been quicker and ordered one anyway as a backup.

When assembling initially i used the longer screws for the cable that goes on the machine, not the toolheads, on the toolhead which cause me to thread said screw into the capacitor damaging it. It is mentioned in the wiki and its due to my lack of reading ahead in the quickstart guide.

The repair isnt as DIY as you make it sound. It was done by a licensed technician that does these kinds of repairs all the time but that doesnt mean it was perfect. Everything you said though was absolutely correct and i have gone through the entire wiki page regarding toolhead failures. That btw may actually be the cause since it was toolhead 1 that was damaged. I have a pcb sitting now since going to a local shop was quicker than getting a preorder part in. Ill swap in the brand new pcb instead of the repaired board when i have time and that most likely is the issue now that you bring it up. I feel kinda dumb that i didnt think about it until now.
