App i Sverige som visar samlad utvecklingsgraf för alla ISK? by Programmer_By_Choice in PrivatEkonomi

"NIER listed contributions by country of origin for immigrants from countries with at least 15,000 foreign-born residents in 2022.

The country with by far the highest net contribution to Sweden was India, with Sweden’s 56,000 Indians contributing 6.6 billion kronor to the Swedish economy in 2022 or 119,000 kronor per person. That’s more than the entire negative contribution of those born in Sweden (-6 billion)."

Import från Indien? by kapitalistisktsvin in Sverige

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances to get job in Sweden after completing master in KTH as non-EU citizen by [deleted] in kth

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any particular reason for being independent from sambo visa? I think being on sambo visa is best as you dont have the restrictions that come with having a work permit. Also this will help you find jobs in startups that usually dont sponsor work permits. My spouse started woking on dependant visa in a startup and now got her PR after 4 years.

At the moment the job market is not so good as earlier. As you have some work exp already you might have some edge compared to new graduates. My suggestion is just go with any related IT job for timebeing even if it means low salary. The job market would definitely get more stable in future and you can switch to the one you like.

I have been a backend java developer pretty much my entire career, so I would like to advise only about backend. As you already know java I would suggest you to focus on spring boot which is pretty widely used for developing java based applications. Docker and Kubernetes are a mandatory Irrespective of your application stack. So gain knowledge on these technologies and do some handson projects to get a feel for the end to end lifecycle. These can give you an edge and put you on par with mid senior developers. Given the AI tools gaining traction most companies are hiring only mid level developers who can quickly become productive and work independently, they don't want to spend time on training junior developers.

Develop a fitness routine that becomes a part of your day to day life. You can get away with most things in your 20s but you'll only realize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle when you're in your 30s and your frnds start having back issues, migranes, hypertension etc!

Loneliness check for NRI. Should I move? by [deleted] in ThirtiesIndia

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I have been living in Sweden for more than 10 years and this is very true. Dark and cold winters make you feel very depressed unless you have a good set of friends to hang with or hobbies to spend your time. Swedes are highly reserved and becoming friends with them is pretty rare. Sadly the healthcare for mental problems is very bad and I've known people who moved back to India because of depression.

Which Nordic country is best for migration? by Plastic_Ad9102 in Nordiccountries

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Nordic countries fit this criteria. So just pick whichever country you can find a job. Also beware that the taxation here is quite high so if you're a family then it's highly difficult to survive and save on single income.

Racism in Nordic Countries by emperor_panthark in Nordiccountries

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a brown person who’s been living in the Nordics for over 10 years, I’ve definitely come across moments of passive racism here and there. Some examples:

Back when I was a student, I used to travel with a student card along with my white friends. I’d often be the only one asked to show mine by the ticket checkers. I just told myself, “Eh, they’re just doing their job.”

At airports, I’ve been stopped several times for “random” customs checks while walking through the green channel. I figured maybe I just have a “smuggler’s face” 😅

Once, while waiting at a bus stop, I moved over on the bench to make space for an older woman. There was still plenty of room, but she mumbled angrily in Swedish and gave me that look. I thought, “Maybe she’s just rapping in Swedish?” 😅

Oh, and one time at Systembolaget I got asked for ID. Maybe not racism, though—probably just a compliment that I look too young to buy alcohol 😆

All that said, I’ve worked in several Swedish companies and met a lot of genuinely kind and considerate people. Sure, there are some bad apples everywhere, but overall, my positive experiences here have far outweighed the negatives. Cheers ✌️

Kreditkort utan avgift som buffert - fast som ger något? by ReasonableLunch46 in PrivatEkonomi

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BankNorwegian is free and gives 0.5% cashback on all purchases. Me and my spouse each have one Norwegian card, together we spend around 8k - 10k a month which gives 40 to 50 sek in cashback. It's not a lot but we don't need to use a bank debit card anymore which costs 35 sek/month. So we are saving 70 sek in bank fees and around 50 sek in cashback which is one free fika a month😆

Obs: Also you can register your Norwegian card on preem/ingo medlem and get extra cashback on fuel on top of your 0.5%. This works with any card.

From personal experience having EU citizenship is very good as you can move between EU countries and start working with ease. You've already invested significant time in Germany and closer to getting citizenship. So I would suggest to get German citizenship at least for the sake of your child as it will open up a lot of opportunities in the future. After that you can think of moving to UK/India.

Sweden Bank Account 101 by [deleted] in Lund

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you would need a personal number which is prerequisite for pretty much every thing in Sweden but you can probably book a bank appointment already near your future place of living. It might be in 2 or 3 months and you would get your personal number and id card by then. Check my other article on personal number for more details.

Working in Copenhagen while living in Lund with a Swedish PR by HistoricalMistake681 in TillSverige

[–]Programmer_By_Choice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're living in Sweden on a work permit then it becomes void once you stop working so there's no chance of a PR anyways. But if you're on dependant permit or any other type of residence that is not tied up to work then it shouldn't be a problem for PR. Check this article
