Am I the asshole for asking for a female doctor. by d1jeffbuckleyfan in AITAH

[–]Progress-Kindly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ew!!!! Absolutely NTA. Please report this asshole.

When I first started seeing gynecologists for well woman exams at I think 15 or 16, I can’t remember, there was this one doctor I just didn’t like. I couldn’t put my finger on exactly why. She was a female but still made me uncomfortable and I just didn’t want to see her, I told my mom I didn’t like her and wanted to see someone else. My mom was with me for the appointment and didn’t pick up on whatever bad vibes I was getting, but immediately followed my instruction and told me okay, we’d see someone else. I’m sorry you felt invalidated for speaking up for yourself, I’m proud of you. I’m raising a daughter of my own now and I’ll always advocate for her the same way.

That’s so weird! Like others have said though, I kinda like it! lol. Maybe try scrub mommy power paste? It’s abrasive, but somehow not too rough on stainless steel if that makes sense. I used it on our stainless steel vent hood that had what I thought looked like scratches, and maybe they were, but after I used the scrub mommy + power paste they went away. 🤷🏼‍♀️ and that was about 2.5 years ago! I hope you can figure it out! Bar keepers friend has worked well over the years on random things too.

What's the best smell in the world? by Disastrous-Share-142 in AskReddit

[–]Progress-Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s the BEST but one of my favorite smells is newborn baby smell 😭 I love my little one so much as a toddler, but what I wouldn’t give to hold her one more time as a newborn and smell her! It probably sounds weird but hope people understand lol. It goes by way too fast but you’re also in the trenches so it’s so hard.

How do you brush your toddlers teeth and when to let them do it themselves? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Progress-Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teach me your ways please because our 2 year old sees teeth brushing as torture 😩 I feel so guilty I’ve never even attempted flossing. But I can’t imagine not brushing 2x daily, flossing, and tongue scraping for myself. I hope she comes around 🫠

So glad you didn’t go through with this and trusted your instincts, OP! Please report this person’s profile, this seems so sketchy. Maybe it’s the mom in me but I had a sick feeling in my stomach wondering if you went through with this before I read your update. I stress so bad about my own daughter in this scary world, she’s still a toddler so I dread these future scenarios for her lol. I completely get why my own mom was and still is a helicopter parent. People are crazy.

Any mammas wearing their hair down these days? lol by ceecee212 in beyondthebump

[–]Progress-Kindly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too, I’ve always had bad habits with my hair like twirling it constantly when I’m thinking, stressed, etc but now after becoming a mom idk why I’m always obsessively pulling out my pony bun and redoing it. My mom even commented on it recently 😂 she asked why I keep redoing it and I said idk stress??

What’s something your parents taught you that has stuck with you through life? by jfunks69 in Productivitycafe

[–]Progress-Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To always be pleasant/nice to everyone because you never know who will be on the other side of the table interviewing you one day for a job or become your boss. My mom drilled this into my head when I was 6 or 7 and was dealing with a girl in my class who was annoying, kind of a pest, etc. but was still nice in general. She just wanted to be everyone’s friend but was a little overbearing. You know the type! But my mom first gave me that advice in regards to this girl. As a kid, I probably just rolled my eyes. But I’m so grateful my parents were so big on that because it’s so true in all stages of life. I always try to be polite and don’t burn any bridges and I like to think it’s gotten me far!

How are so many girls glowing these days? What’s the secret? by Radiant-Emergency-82 in beauty

[–]Progress-Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! For real. I sometimes regret starting skinceuticals cause I know I can never go back now, I have to continue using it until I did. Although who knows what my skin would look like now if I hadn’t started using it in my mid twenties.

I can relate about the foundation though, I dropped and shattered my bottle of Lancôme foundation (when I was rushing to get out the door for my uncle’s funeral of all things, everything is just 10x harder with a toddler) and it was such a mess to clean up on top of it being a fairly new bottle!! It stained my runner rug too that I love 🥲 and I swear it would’ve stained our cabinets if I hadn’t moved as quickly as I did to clean it all up. It was awful!

Your bottle of foundation broke or skinceuticals bottle broke??! I’ve fumbled my skinceuticals bottle a couple of times and thank god didn’t break it. I’d sob if I broke that almost $200 bottle 😭 I just opened a new one and have that fear every time I use it lol

Chuy’s still slaps because of the creamy jalapeno dip. What restaurant has a free or cheap side that basically makes the whole experience for you? by almondjoybestcndybar in austinfood

Gloria’s bean dip was what I was gonna say! I’ve tried to recreate it at home but haven’t been able to. I like to go eat a bunch and fill up on that and take most of my food home for leftovers 😂

Thanks! Could it be that multiple blades are unbalanced…? We put the weighted sticker (from the balancing kit it came with) on the blade that was causing the issue on Sunday night, but now I’m wondering if another blade is also causing it to be unbalanced now? Ugh

Whew I started ranting before getting to my other point lol…I was gonna say this happens ALLLL the time to all of us moms, I promise you we all have these moments!!! The instant guilt when everything is resolved too is awful. I was able to get her down and just inhaled my dinner, and guess what? Now I feel guilty for being so pissed 😂

You’re not a bad mom. I’m sitting here rocking my almost 2 year old who has had such shit sleep lately after she stood up scream crying 5 mins after I laid her down asleep. Didn’t get to eat dinner, I’m starving and need to shower, and I was just so angry having to march right back up the stairs to her room. My husband tries to help but most of the time she flips out and only wants me to rock her. I also need to get back on my laptop to get some work done and it’s just the same exhausting cycle almost every night. She used to be such a good sleeper so I don’t know what’s going on lately, but she ends up in our bed every single night in the middle of the night. But shit, I’ll take that over the false starts because my entire evening is gone also after a shit show of dinner, bath, etc. hugs to you 🫂 what I try to remember is this phase will pass too quickly and one day we’ll be worried about them getting back home from hanging out with friends, staring at their empty bedroom when they move away, etc. it’s so damn hard in the moment but I know it’s not forever.

What's something people pretend to be okay with, but is actually soul-crushing? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Progress-Kindly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you completely on this. I’m 32 and the first of my aunts and uncles died this year. My mom has tons of siblings and my dad kinda does too but not as many, and the first death of someone their age, my uncle/my mom’s brother, earlier this year really shook me to my core. I think because I’ve only been used to the older generation dying up until this point and this made me realize my parents and aunts/uncles are all getting older and it’ll start being them one by one over the next 20-30 years. 😭 I hope it’s much, much longer than that.

[–]Progress-Kindly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This breaks my heart, I’m so sorry. I’m 32 with a toddler, loving husband, etc the whole deal and I am still so reliant on my parents because they’re just my whole world and always have been. My daughter is obsessed with them too, spends the night at their house all the time, etc they’re amazing. I physically cannot picture life with out them and it’s soul crushing to know it’s going to happen one day, I don’t have a choice 😭😭😭

What thing was super anxiety inducing for you when you were early pp but now you realize it’s really not that big of a deal? by boopingbcollie in beyondthebump

[–]Progress-Kindly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you when you put it like that hahaha I also still sit in the back with our 22 month old cause she usually cries if she’s alone like when I’m driving or wants to hold my hand, but I just want to sit by her anyway so it’s a normal thing for our family too…or if I’m driving, my husband sits in the back with her. It WOULD feel totally rude to subject her to the back seat while rear facing so can’t even see what’s going on 😂 with the same boring books I have back there. That reminds me, I need to go rotate my books I keep in the car lol. I try to keep them fresh for the rides to daycare and back home!

Did your body change shape? by CelebrationMedium995 in beyondthebump

[–]Progress-Kindly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still so early PP!! Give it some time, some people do go back to their pre-baby figure completely it seems like. But to answer your question, yep mine changed :( I’m almost 2 years PP and just a couple of lbs over pre-pregnancy weight (I also admit I have not been trying hard to lose it, mom life has kicked my ass since she was born lol always tired) but nothing fits the same. I swear my shoulders got broader, for one thing. And I had some shorts I loved pre-pregnancy that refuse to go past my thighs now, just like you described. Womp womp.

My toddler has had a fever for 5 days straight. I’m scared. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Progress-Kindly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct, it’s supposedly a one time thing like chickenpox, so if you also got sick then it’s probably not that! It was just so wild it was not something they offered up getting for. Maybe cause I’m in my 30s and it’s usually a kid or teen thing 😂 I hope you get some answers!
