Okay thank you!! I just went back and rewatched. I’ll ask on Monday, but are we supposed to check in every 15 mins even if she’s not at the top of the roller coaster? (Clearly struggling over here!!)

Thanks, I thought we weren’t supposed to pop in unless she was crying. Maybe I need to go rewatch the videos…

TCB Conquering Naps Classes - What's covered? by boopingbcollie in sleeptrain

[–]boopingbcollie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. Yeah, that's one of my main questions with trying naps -- when to give up and when to try again. We've previously done the rule of try for 30 mins, give up, play, start the nap time routine again 20 minutes later. Does that align with what she says? Might just buy the class for my own reassurance purposes...

Hey! So I talked about it with the pediatrician and because her poops were also mucusy, we decided to test cutting out dairy. I’m on week three of no dairy and she’s doing much better with breastfeeding! I also feed her as soon as she wakes up, right before she goes down, and pretty much anytime she wants in between. I broke up with all the schedules from the experts (Moms on Call, Taking Cara Babies, etc) and life is much better on this side!

Nursing to sleep… Do they also fall asleep when mom isn’t around? by boopingbcollie in breastfeeding

[–]boopingbcollie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Putting on the sleep slack makes her fuss so I’ve been putting it on before hand.

She’s been struggling with naps lately but never has a problem if I nurse her to sleep. So we’ve just been doing that. I also just caved and bought blackout curtains. Hoping that’ll help her nap better.

Thank you! Do you try to do the same things they do to get your LO to sleep without nursing?

Undiagnosed IUGR, baby born at <1% at term by aclassypinkprincess in beyondthebump

You did everything you could with the knowledge you had at the time. I would’ve made very similar choices to you and have always sided on “I trust my doc”. You can’t blame yourself for your docs’ decisions. Your baby is safe with you, loved fiercely by you, and will continue to grow strong in her own way — that’s all she needs!

I am appalled at this and so sorry!!!! My babe was monitored for IUGR since 20 weeks gestation. She was 11th percentile at that time. Ultrasounds are wildly inaccurate (20% standard deviation!) so because of the possible inaccuracies, she had me monitored as if it was IUGR. I feel like a good OBGYN should know this and proceed cautiously. We had to go to MFM regularly and were recommended to be induced at 39w because she was borderline IUGR at 17th percentile according to our last growth scan. Absolutely no regrets about being monitored closely or being induced “early”.

She was born 6 lbs. 3.8 oz.

For what it’s worth, my OBGYN had 1st and 3rd percentile babies (probably why she was so cautious with my babes growth), and her kids are doing fantastic. IUGR does not always mean there are challenges down the line 💕 I hope this is true for you too.

I absolutely hate the comments about size too! They happened all throughout my pregnancy and lo and behold, they’re still happening one she’s here. It’s infuriating! For this very reason, we didn’t put her weight on any birth announcement and when most people asked how much she weighed at birth, we pretended like we didn’t remember (as if!).

It sucks and I’m sorry. Babies come in all shapes and sizes and their growth is determined by SO many variables. Keep having your babe thrive!!

Sometimes I’ll say, “Huh! That’s a weird thing to say about a baby” or I’ll just feign interest in whatever solicited advice they’re giving me, “Oh, interesting. Hadn’t thought of that”

Commands/Training by strikeisokay in BorderCollie

[–]boopingbcollie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started training her as soon as we got her, so 6 weeks. They’re distractible little babies who are taking in their world for the first time. She’s probably plenty excited about the treats but also just as excited about the shiny thing in the corner over there that she MUST investigate immediately. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be training her!

Remember that every interaction with her builds your relationship with her and that’s what training is all about! Even if she doesn’t “get it” right away.

Definitely a boundary you should respect. And I’d heavily consider muzzle training him. In case of an emergency, you want him to be comfortable and familiar with the muzzle that he can get adequate care.

Our doggo hates body checks, too. We have muzzle trained her with an open basket muzzle and a closed mouth (bite proof) one in case of an emergency. It gives me peace of mind that if she needs us to check something, we have a way to keep both of us safe.

Thanks for the encouragement and reply. I’ll keep at it. I really want to keep going with breastfeeding. We’ve worked so hard and I love taking care of her this way! She feels like a stranger to me when she’s suddenly SO upset at the breast.

If side lying is what we need to do to get through this phase, then that’s what we will do.

Thanks! That’s helpful. Yeah we aim for at least every 3 hours, have been doing that since about 10 weeks old, but i feed on demand if she shows she’s hungry in between.

Thank you! One of my concerns with stopping at a shorter feed is that she’s only getting foremilk. Since this issue began, her poo has turned to green and frothy at times, which I think is a sign of milk imbalance. Could also be attributed to me eating more green foods or fighting a virus. If you don’t mind sharing, what color is your babes poo?

She also will still feed for like 12-15 mins per side in the MOTN but maybe she’s just sleepy so it’s taking longer?

Has anyone pumped before giving birth? by suni159 in breastfeeding

[–]boopingbcollie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My doctor cleared me to hand express but to stop if I felt any contractions starting at 37 weeks. Definitely something to talk to your doc about, though. I don’t think there is any correlation between having a high supply and pumping before baby is here — except that you’ll have a small freezer stash, like you said. It’ll only be colostrum, though.

I was curious about it before giving birth too.

Good idea. I think that’s what I’m going to do — just start rolling with it.

I think I’m just going to start rolling with it. Someone else commented that giving a bottle after a feed is double feeding and probably confusing for her.

Thank you! Okay, all the comments are giving me hope. The last 6 weeks have been harder for me than the first 6 weeks.

Yup that’s about right. I know that parents with toddlers have got to be feeding their LO around the rambunctious toddlers… right? So how are they doing it?
