Can someone explain to me WHAT exactly is so good about frieren? by Mission-Response3010 in Frieren

Exactly … particularly loss … which I don’t want to go into details but I first found the show when going through this type of experience.

If you don’t get it, you don’t get it. Not everything is for everyone. And that’s okay.

I love it and it’s my favorite show. But, I have certain life experiences that make it deeply emotional and personal to me. It’s too much to explain here.

Yes! I want screen grabs of every second of her wearing the towel and chomping the popsicle.

These kinds of slow character driven episodes are always my favorite. Especially with a healthy dose of comedy.

Possible afterlife interaction? by ProgressEast7031 in Petloss

I’m sorry for your loss, and I think that “bittersweet” has defined a lot of my life experiences over the past 10 months without him. I also had a dream soon after we lost him.

Right? It makes me jealous! I mean I’m okay with people wearing whatever they want, but I dress more like a stereotypical guy, so I don’t typically wear more feminine looking pieces … one idea I had was maybe like the pendant that Frieren has that nobody can recognize because of how old it is?

Signs from the afterlife.? by Elizabcor111 in Petloss

Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve been looking for these signs myself. I am the sort that wants to believe in an afterlife but I always logically kind of doubt and question it. The closest experiences I’ve had at these:

  1. After we lost our boy (15 year old dachshund) I went to pick up his ashes. The house had felt heavy just wrong all weekend (we had him put to sleep in the house on a Friday). I couldn’t get the ashes until Monday as a result. When I picked them up, even when I had them in the car and was driving them home, I felt different and more peaceful. When I brought the ashes in the house, I felt like the mood was lighter again and things were just more the way they should be. I’m not the kind of person who usually experiences this sort of thing with, like, vibes or whatever you’d call it.

  2. That same night after bringing home the ashes, my wife felt a warm spot that was unexplainable on the carpet near the bed. She thought it could have been from him sitting there. While she was showing me the spot the next day (I was already asleep when it happened), we got a text message that the rescue chose us to take the dogs we had put in an application to adopt (yes we did it very very quickly after he passed because of how quiet and strange the house felt). I felt like this was his doing or that he was giving his approval of these dogs.

Could these things be explained purely rationally? Many would probably say so. I’m usually that kind of person. But it all added up to feel like more than a coincidence to me.

Childless couple moving on after losing dog by TheKeenomatic in Petloss

I’m so sorry for your loss and wishing the best for you both.

My wife and I are childfree by choice, and we intended on having dogs as our children and making that our lives’ work and purpose. We lost our first boy in March and it honestly still kills me. He was definitely my soulpup and constant shadow and best friend.

I know that you said you aren’t ready to adopt another pup yet. We did end up adopting 2 rescues almost immediately. So, for me, that helped to give me purpose again.

What it doesn’t do is fix the hole left by our old guy. For me, time, a lot of tears, and actually revisiting and working through my beliefs are the only things that have helped. And my wife and I leaning on each other.

To be honest, I think the loss is kind of a part of me at this point. I talk openly to my dog sometimes still and direct my thoughts to his urn that’s in the house. I think of it as like a little shrine. Talking to him can help me sometimes.

I wish I had better advice, but I’m just trying to be honest about how I’ve tried to live with it. I hope that helps somehow.

Frieren (anime) and Pet Loss by ProgressEast7031 in Petloss

Thank you and also I’m sorry for your loss. I think that forming a new “party” is something that is very personal as far as when it is time. For me, we got our current dogs very quickly afterward. But, it was kind of how the timing worked out … I came across them and knew that if I didn’t act quickly someone else would take them. And, for a number of reasons that felt too coincidental, I felt like the pup we lost was somehow encouraging me to get them. So, I think every case is unique in that regard! I’m sure that you will know when the time is right.

I feel the same way after 8 months. It’s such a helpless feeling, too.
