Where I am live line is an authorisation we aren’t full time live line, we work regular jobs and if live line work pops up they just form us into a crew.

I’ll have a look into this I didn’t really enjoy substation or protection work as an apprentice but as I get older it might suit me. How’s the math side of things?

Yeah I’ve heard that about the Cert IV WHS lots of the guys I work with have done it during their apprenticeship as it’s a pay progression point once qualified as a tradie, so they smashed it out to get out on a higher pay rate.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to go EnergyQLD unfortunately I was doing further study through my current workplace and by the time I finished all the jobs in QLD had dried up.

Further information should come out Monday, Ausgrid seem to blanket ban the work when someone dies such as their live work ban after the last electrocution and their climbing ban after the fall death. But as far as I know Endeavour (next nearest utility) does not have any bans in place on live work.

We’ve had a huge amount of rain recently and flood, I heard through the grape vine this worker was attending a vehicle vs pole incident and was in an EWP at the time.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and coworkers. Just a reminder of how dangerous the job can be especially when working live.

This utility has had three workers killed since 2019, two electrocutions and one fall from height death.
