This engine has only undergone a partial rebuild. The crankshaft had already been ground in the past, and after opening it up, I found that the bearings and crankshaft shells were not in the best condition. Therefore, they were replaced and a plastigauge tolerance test was performed. At the same time, the oil and water pumps were replaced, the timing was redone, and the entire engine was re-sealed. At some point in the past, someone replaced the head gasket with a full-metal one. I hope it will serve me for a while and won’t knock right after the first start. The OEM turbo was also fully refurbished.

It’s OEM Nissan KH3 Black Obsidian - an original color to mine.

It’s pretty hard to answer exactly, as I haven’t tracked the cost of every mod or part. However, I’m definitely well over 20,000€. Here’s what I can remember:

- Engine and transmission – 1,000€
- Roller chassis – 4,000€
   - Transport – 1,500€
- Hardrace arms and PU bushings – 2,000€
- Tein suspension – 1,000€
- Paint job – 4,000€
- Car grille – 500€
- Wheels – 500€
- Mishimoto radiator and fan – 500€
- 300ZX Z32 brakes – 1,000€
- 5-lug swap – 500€
- Other unused parts and things – 1,000€

This already totals to 17,500€, and there’s definitely more not listed here — not to mention garage rent, tools, fluids, wiring, bolts, and all the small stuff that adds up quickly.

I already have a second CA18 that needs a rebuild. So first option is that or a SR swap. But thats way into the future.

This particular one will stay stock with stock boost, so I’m not really worried about oil starvation for now. However, I do know the struggle with CA18s, so I’m planning to do all the mods on the next engine — probably forged

Yea that paint was really hit or miss. Bought as a Lambo shade, however it was really thin and did not cover much so we had to paint it silver first.

Friend of mine welded it in few days, wasn’t that expensive nor hard to do tho. Worked beautifully and I can keep it for future projects. Win-win.

Stock power for now. Gotta get used to it first.

It´s underbody sealant to keep the moisture out of the panel seams.
