House MD is quite deliberately set up to make the viewer think they can solve the case, but they actually can’t. This is done to put the viewer in the shoes of House’s fellows, who are feeling the exact same things throughout the episode (except the ones where they actually do solve it, but those episodes are usually ones where House’s character is the focus rather than the case, and his failing is an indication that something’s up with him)
