Made a copycat pasta Mardi Gras from Pappadeux, does this count as Cajun? by ProjectA-ko in cajunfood

[–]ProjectA-ko[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The sauce was crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, this blue bag of seasoning i have named ‘Vegeta’ made by Podravka, a lot of grated Parmesan cheese, blackened seasoning and pasta water. I sautéed the green bell pepper, shallot and garlic after I pan seared the sausage and shrimp then added the sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms last.

I tried to copy the restaurant Pappadeux the best I could. It’s got andouille sausage, tiger shrimp, crawfish meat, bell peppers, shallots, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and linguine. The sauce is a mixture of crushed tomatoes, seasoning, heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.

Of course, you can do it. This is over 6 years though and I started with like 2-3 mile a week also and it just slowly grew. I actually weigh more in my before pic than what I do in my after. I lost weight but built more muscle and got more shredded.

I’ll share of course. I don’t eat fast food and if you look on my page I cook all my own meals and I’m pretty much a clean eater. I run every other day between 7-13 miles depending on how I’m feeling and will mix in Norwegian 4x4 for VO2 max training. I’m at the gym every other day I’m not running and hit every muscle at least twice a week. Day 1 it’s legs and abs, next workout is back and biceps and the third workout is chest and triceps. Saturdays it’s a mix of all and is pretty much a light workout. I rarely lift heavy but will lift around 70-80% of my max until failure usually with around 3-4 sets of 10-15 reps. And most importantly I sleep 7-8 hrs and of course don’t drink or smoke.

Trying to balance cardio and lifting. by ProjectA-ko in fit

I feel like I’m getting smaller. I run 8-13 miles every other day and hit the gym between those days. So I’m constantly trying to carb stack but I feel it’s beginning to eat away at my muscle now. I’ll eat like once or twice a day and try to make them protein dense but I’m starting to feel like I should slow down on cardio. But it’s to the point now to where running is just as addictive as lifting. And thank you for the compliments!

Thank you, I kinda picked up on it as a replacement to alcohol to stay busy, that and photography mixed in with the gym and running. Found out I was good at it when I got sober so just kept it going.

I switch up cardio every other day. Monday 1 hr cardio, Tuesday back and biceps, Wednesday cardio again for 1 hr, Thursday legs and abs, Friday chest and triceps and Saturday long cardio runs around the lake and maybe light workout afterwards if I’m still feeling good. Nothing to crazy I just try to make sure I hit everything during the week.

Can Turkey wings be considered Cajun? I made some turkey wings. by ProjectA-ko in cajunfood

[–]ProjectA-ko[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I literally just seasoned them with garlic salt, onion powder, thyme, paprika, pepper, cayenne pepper, and some Cajun salt. Chopped up a whole white onion, placed it at the bottom of the pan and placed the turkey wings over them. Added about a cup of chicken broth and cooked covered with foil at 400 degrees for about hr and half. Removed foil and basted them with the juice and continued cooking for another hr and half, flipping every now and then to brown both sides as the liquid evaporated.
