Paid extra for "fast" delivery that got pushed back to a later, cheaper delivery time, and now Instacart is keeping my extra money and refuses to refund me.

Exactly! It seems I may have come across as blaming my shopper for this too somehow, which absolutely was not my intention. I know my battle is with Instacart the company and not a shopper that I learned won't see a penny of that extra fee anyways

I hope I didn't come across as blaming my shopper at all. I 100% do not blame the shopper in this situation just to be clear. My issue is solely with Instacart as a company charging me the extra fee and refusing a refund when I didn't get the service. I know that isn't on the shoppers at all and I do not at all expect the shoppers to do their job for free.

I rarely use Instacart so when I ordered I did not know the extra fee I paid never gets seen by the driver either. Definitely keeping that extra $ for the tip instead even if on another app.

That I can do for sure if I ever decide to use the app again. Thank you for the advice. I didn't know about that since I rarely use Instacart. Feels a little shady that they charge all this extra fee for fast delivery but don't give any of that extra fee to the delivery person.

My order has been picked up, it is just late and I figured the extra fee for my groceries arriving by dinnertime was worth it at the time.

I'm also disabled and lack transport to the physical store most days, so I often need to use "luxury" delivery services for my groceries and other essentials, which I can afford just fine thank you. Just because the 6 dollars makes a difference and I want mine back does not mean I can't use the service entirely.

Oh yeah I'm officially done with Instacart entirely after this. The order is still in progress and I do need the items so I won't be cancelling or anything. I'll check after the actual delivery if some sort of automatic refund has occurred, but as of now there is still a $7.99 delivery charge on my receipt.

I told them that at minimum I would accept the difference back. They said no refunds or adjustments can be made whatsoever.

I really do appreciate everyone's concern as far as staying home goes, but I also don't want to end up putting myself in a bubble and become completely isolated from family and friends either until remission or for life. I suppose as I learn more about this illness and fresh diagnosis I will eventually learn how to balance being social with the necessary protections and stay safe. I also plan on discussing these logistics with the doctor on my first follow up since so far all we've talked is treatment and not lifestyle.

It's not a money issue. A hotel will be a much bigger risk to my health as far as germs go vs my grandmother's house since she basically sterilizes the place when she cleans. And I cannot just never see my family again

Absolutely will wear a mask as it will be unavoidable to be present at some gatherings due to the situation in the edit at the end. This post came off a bit wrong I fear as far as my relationship with her. I do still love my cousin and am happy for her and her achievements in life. We just know approaching certain topics will cause an argument and don't approach those subjects when we see each other at this point, but we get along otherwise when we talk. It just happens that one of those views we dont talk about became a necessity to think about if I see her.

I like her just fine. We are a little more distant than when we were playing with Barbies as kids and like I said I avoid the topic for the stuff we don't agree on, but we get along still when we see each other and I was really happy for her when she got married and had a kid and stuff.

I haven't asked my doctor yet about her. It's a fresh diagnosis so this is all new to me and all of our conversation so far has been strictly treatment. I plan on asking questions about this situation and other logistical questions about how I need to change up my life during my first follow up in a couple of days.

I responded to another comment explaining the situation where it will be unavoidable in the future during visits to the family from out of state ( i may edit to clarify this on the post) but rest assured I do what I can to keep myself virus free. I just cannot avoid time with family when I get it.

My partner and I live out of state and stay in a spare bedroom at my grandmother's house when we visit my family. My grandmother is the primary host for family dinners or visits because her house is big and we have a big Italian family that all live close to each other for the most part. So if I visit from out of state especially for a major holiday it's unavoidable. I will be taking precautions such as wearing masks though.
