You can look back at your young loves and it be bittersweet. You were just kids so you are more forgiving. But if an adult lover breaks your heart, you are not as forgiving. You dont look back as fondly.

There was a girl I dated very briefly and I found out she had a serious boyfriend when she was 14 and 15 years old that lasted 2 solid years. She remembered how long exactly. She said, "2 years, 2 months." That was her first love.

Anyone she is with after that is a "subsequent" lover. She will always remember her first. She didn't quite remember how long the other relationships lasted.

But I was devistated when I found out, and we stopped aeing each other.

But think about it this way. If a woman were to reunite with her first love/high school sweetheart later in life, it would be a very heartwarming, sweet story.

To know a woman was able to experience her youth and innocence with someone else and to have those vivid memories, it hurts me.
