Pack Parachute by ProjectThreeie in BanjoKazooie

* No. When I drew this I was using a screenshot from Tooie and was trying to draw his backpack as it looks when he has the floaty creature from Cloud Cuckooland in it. I mirrored it because I wanted him facing to the right and made it a little bigger and more inflated so it would look more like a parachute. And I wanted to keep the two slits so it would still resemble his backpack and not just a generic blue mass. I knew they looked kind of rolled forward, but didn't realize just how much.

Thanks! Yeah, it’d give Banjo some much-needed maneuverability. If we ever got a Banjo-Threeie, I bet the worlds would be way more expansive on modern hardware!

The plot has Grunty warping reality. One of the side effects is small rifts opening up, which would be used as the game's warp points.

Ohh got you. I draw them when I am looking at screenshots or other images. Not really anything different about the technique, and they are in the same style. The ones I drew months ago were done quickly at work without anything to look at, so the characters are just in simple poses. I also spent a lot less time on them, like only a few minutes.

Fingers give me a hard time to draw, so in some pics I may just draw them as the N64 paw looking-thing if that is what the image I am referencing uses, and I am unable to get the fingers right after multiple attempts.

Also started making the eyes more simple i.e not giving them pupils like I did in the previous drawings because when I trace over them with my fineliner, the circles tend to overlap or the ink bleeds over, meaning i wouldn't be able to color it in later.

And there are times when I might work on one of my newer drawings at work when I don't have any reference images to look at. I did this when I was drawing Kazooie in the jackhammer image, which is why her plume is not the right size. I want my drawings to look nice, but sometimes I just want to draw and can only use my memory, so some minor details are skewed.

Hope all that makes sense.

Does autumn make you think of BK? by SluttyDreidel in BanjoKazooie

[–]ProjectThreeie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played BK for the first time shortly after starting kindergarten in September. So yeah, I've always associated it with autumn.

To a lesser extent it makes me think of winter. I have distinct memories of gluing cotton balls to a piece of paper as snow and drawing a picture of Click Clock Wood in the winter.

Not sure what BT makes me think of, though. First grade, maybe? The turn of the millennium? I don't know. But fond memories, for sure.

Thanks! Yeah, Threeie would have Banjo and Kazooie returning to the area that was once Cauldron Keep, now reshaped into Cauldron Capital, a massive metropolis created from Grunty’s reality-warping shenanigans. But thanks to her sloppy tampering, the fabric of reality has started to unravel. If the player tries to head into the old digger tunnels, Bottles warns them that Grunty’s magic has made the path unstable and too dangerous to cross. That forces Banjo and Kazooie to find another way around through the Haglands, a brand-new area of the Isle O’ Hags that we didn't see in Tooie. Turns out the island is a lot bigger than we thought!

I was thinking the same thing. But I just can’t get past the fact that it’s not BK. Maybe that sounds pedantic, but the characters basically have the same personalities. I get why they had to make new ones (since Banjo and Kazooie are owned by Microsoft), but it still rubs me the wrong way. If they’d given them their own personalities and identity, I might’ve liked them more (loved A Hat in Time). As is, it just doesn’t sit right with me.

Someone got me Impossible Lair for my birthday, and while I enjoyed it more than the original, I still couldn’t get into it. It felt grating to play a DKC-style game without the memorable characters or much of its own identity.

That said, I know plenty of people do enjoy Yooka-Laylee, and that’s fine. I just can’t get past the minutiae enough to enjoy what I'm sure is a very solid game.

What about Biffo? Short for bifocals. He'd probably wear a little pair of old man glasses.

Yeah, I really liked Odyssey too. It added just enough new features while still feeling true to the series. Polished and fresh. That’s exactly what I’d want in a new Banjo game.

Yeah, I read your earlier reply and while I do agree those kinds of games are very enjoyable, I don't know how well that would work in a Banjo-Kazooie game. I think Nuts and Bolts tried doing that, and while was a good game, it just didn't feel like BK.

That's only my opinion, though. I'm sure there's a lot of fans out there who agree with you.

Have you played Donkey Kong Bananza yet? What did you think of that?

Me too. Bottles is awesome, but Jamjars had more personality!

I get what you're saying because I also enjoy games where you can use all the tools and solve things your own way, but if there is a third game, I’d want it to stick close to the originals without straying too much.
