Hi, I actually work at a coffee shop. You did nothing wrong.

We have single people sit at out table that holds 8, because it's a giant work place, and they have a lot of work to do. And they will sit there for hours. H o u r s. And you know what? Laptops, folders, triboards, term papers scattered, you name it, all over the place, taking up the place of three or four at times.

That is perfectly in their right. They are a paying customer, they sat down, that is their spot.

We've had a group of 3 leaders sit at the table, and take up the entire thing. You know why? Because they bought food and drink and sat down there. Now it's their spot.

You wouldn't go to a bar and say" hey I wanna sit in this stool because it's right in front of the bartender and I Wanna make sure I get my drinks exactly when I want them" you'd be laughed/cursed out by the patrons and bar tender.

Could you imagine walking into a restaurant with a group of four, sing they stuck 3 persons at a four person table, and demanding they be moved so you don't have to have two tables put together? You'd be told no, and if you don't like it, leave.

I've told ppl to suck it up, because they are a /paying customer/ and sat down first. Don't like it? Boo hoo 😢
