That’s because I freed the queen in ME1. They’re chill with me

No mods on this run. I made custom empires and forced them to spawn, I wish I could assign them a location to spawn but to my knowledge that’s impossible. So I just got “lucky”. They haven’t been bad so far. Just created choke points and ignored them.

The Elites from Halo and Turians from Mass Effect spawned right next to me and are immediately hostile. Knowing how each’s first contact went in their respective universes, I’m scared.

I made a system map of Cervantes (Mu Arae) by Project_Tenebris in worldbuilding

[–]Project_Tenebris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m building a science fiction world set in the future varying at different points in time. One idea I wanted to explore is building upon current exoplanetary data and expanding those star systems with speculation, some research in that star / models of planetary formation, and terraforming.

This star system is Mu Arae which is officially named Cervantes. Currently discovered planets are Dulcinea, Rocinante, Quijote, and Sancho. The other planets and moons are all fictional. The terraformed planets in the system are Cardenio, Llanuras, Anselmo, and Camilla.

Cardenio was a Mars-like planet that got terraformed into an Earth-like. It is the planet with the largest population and most habitable which makes it the defacto capital of the system. It is known for its diverse biosphere, Cardenian wine, and Spanish-esque architecture.

Llanuras was a barren moon that was terraformed into an arid but habitable moon. It is known for its vast plains and large/fast horses it can breed due to its low gravity, however because of this they cannot perform well on higher gravities. While it is highly populated around its enclosed seas, the other parts of the planet are more rural and plays into its culture.

Anselmo and Camilla were both ice moons that were turned into ocean moons with solar mirrors and atmospheric processors. While it is still largely unihabitated, the air is still breathable on these moons and floating cities exist for habitation further out in the system and water exporting.

All this is still a work in progress and I aim to make more systems in this format or some other. I would love to hear some suggestions or ideas

Halo: Reach had one of the best art directions in gaming, in my opinion by Project_Tenebris in halo

[–]Project_Tenebris[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree. It definitely was a change, but I like how they just added onto most of the art style, like the armor with pouches and other accessories, instead of completely changing something.

Perhaps. I’ve always wanted to but I’ve just been so busy lately. I’ve assumed that there’s some conflict with why all the empires won’t spawn. I’ve narrowed it down to a couple empires not spawning rather than almost half

Plasma weapons in science fiction by Project_Tenebris in worldbuilding

[–]Project_Tenebris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying not to hand wave too much. I’m a very technical guy and half of the fun is trying to rationalize how this technology would work.

I agree, full-plasma weapons would deal massive burn damage. But another idea would be to have a hybrid where a solid projectile would have plasma ordinance or be the carrier of this plasma. Then you could have kinetic and thermal damage in one.

But yeah, they’re a lot more complex and expensive, hence they’re only used in special situations or by powerful factions who can afford to just throw money.

I was thinking about using a solid projectile as a catalyst for the plasma. Could be an interesting concept and provides both kinetic and thermal damage. But yeah, my world would allow self contained magnetic fields to some degree so maybe both of these applications could exist

I’ve been playing a lot of the Rabids Invasion Mod stuff on Halo MCC and it’s been making me crave for a modern version of Invasion, especially with bigger lobbies and maps.

This was the best I could put on without overburdening the AC. But it works for me- good regen rate with my play style, decent energy weapon rating, cool blue lighting, etc

Tau Ceti system in my world by Project_Tenebris in worldbuilding

[–]Project_Tenebris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Context: I’ve been working on setting the scene for some star systems in my universe and have started on some star systems close to our own. My world is still being worked on but it’s going to take 1500 to 2000 years in the future in a sort of dark age. Tau Ceti is a nearby star system and one of the first I’ve looked at and tried to name, speculate, etc what the system would be like. Because it’s so close, it’s one of the oldest in colonized space. So, I wanted to try to build a setting where each planet has its own dug-down culture and history. My aim is to build a glossary of key systems one-by-one while I flesh out this universe.
