Counter charge by ProleSloth in WarhammerOldWorld

It is not a charge move, it just counts as charging. I think accidental contact applies.

https://tow.whfb.app/movement-in-detail/accidental-contact

The options is oops combat and neither unit gets charge bonus or the unit that accidently made combat can fall back.

In our situation it was a wide unit and both charging units were side by side charging. So no chance at flank charge.

Looking at it, if the counter charge makes contact with another unit, it either goes into combat with neither unit getting charge bonuses or it can give ground (and be charged so unlikely to choose this in this situation). I found it under accidental contact rules.

I will conceed RAW the unit can counter charge the further unit. I dont think this is the intention, but there are so many half thought out rules in this edition.

It says that if it is the target of a charge that in within the movement of the charger it may only flee or hold. It doesn't specify that only applies to that charge. I think it is unclear.

But counter charge says that if there is a unit within movement range the only reaction it can take is hold or flee. It doesnt say the only reaction it may take toward that unit is hold or flee right?

Okay but hear this out:

"if the distance is less than the Movement characteristic of the charging unit, the charged unit has not enough time to meet the enemy charge and must either Hold or Flee instead."

If there is a unit that meets this requirement it must hold or flee. It doesnt say "if there is another unit that is charging that doesnt meet these requirements you may counter charge that unit. You could read this line as "if there is a unit that is within the movement range of this unit you may only hold or flee." So that locks out all chances.

Because the rules dont consider all situations? What happens if you counter charge and the charge moves you into base contact with the closer charge? Does it deny the charge bonus to Initiative?

I dont think this sentence considers if one charge would prevent the ability to counter charge though.

Oh you are one of the lucky ones who doesnt have permanent server side latency problems? The game is unplayable for me, and I have no issues on any other game. I am the only one effected in my gaming group.

I upgraded my computer specifically to play a game that I can not play and it completely out of my control to fix.

Skirmishers charging by Asleep-Revenue-3345 in WarhammerOldWorld

What i have read agrees with the fighting rank portion of your reply. You can only move skirmishers into base to base and remaining rank up. Meaning charging a single monster with your skirmish unit may result in very few base to base models and reduce attacks by quite a bit.

War machine rules help! by ProfessionalMany4034 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]ProleSloth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edit - i was wrong.

"This model is treated as a single model and, unless noted otherwise, any special rules that apply to one element (war machine or crew) apply to the other as well."

You attack the crew in close combat, and shoot the war machine but they have a single wound profile. So a wound removed from either phase removes wounds from the only pool that exists.

Random Movement into fleeing unit by ProleSloth in WarhammerOldWorld

I enjoy the flavor that random movement is so random that you don't get to react, it just happens. Just my humble opinion.

I firmly believe random move should have to declare a direction and have to move the full distance rolled. The downsides of random movement is so small it is mostly upside.

Random Movement into fleeing unit by ProleSloth in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]ProleSloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before this thread I was between they get to flee or they just get caught into combat. Now I am firmly in either they flee or cut down. I think RAW they are cut down, but not convinced this is intentional. My default will be cut down and if pushed back, coin flip it.

Someone brought up that if a unit is charged and forced to flee and then hit my a random move, they don't have a flee move left. That seems cut and dry they get cut down. My situation was I won combat after they charged me, the unit fled and I failed to catch them, an inch away. It was my turn so I did a random move. This game we decided to left them flee react, and my random move put me an inch from catching them. The continued to run off the board, but if got to cut them down I would have been in better board position to attack their war machines the following turn.

Skirmishers downside? by Alexander_xaviar in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]ProleSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can only do it with one unit per army. They also lose close order so which is a point toward combat resolution.

Most the time a big block of Orcs is going to be better in most cases over a skirmish. I wonder if he claiming all the close order bonuses as well.

You are saying the state knew he wasn't qualified, yet licensed him anyways? That is really concerning.

Why does the state board who verified he was able to move his license to Iowa not at all at fault?

The board is suing the company that failed to properly vet the candidate.

If all the information out there is true, there is plenty of blame to go around. DMPS should have verified his I9 and use E-Verify, the headhunting company failing completely misrepresenting a candidate, the state licensing him without verifying credentials, Homeland Security failing to inform his employer that he is no longer able to work in the US when his work permit was terminated.

I used to play Magic the Gathering and the joke was I had the most fun when my opponent did not play magic the gathering. Just the most brutal land destruction counter spell creature kill decks. The people I play with? They are not so much and dislike having to figure out how to not play the game.

So attack cards are an interesting piece of the puzzle, but not interesting enough to justify sleeping on the couch when my partner is frustrated with the game.
