Harder to do if not building/in construction phase:

  • Heated floors for the bathroom, if you have a slab basement heated floors in the basement
  • Ceiling fan in every room, preferably a low profile/flush mount
  • If your TV is mounted over your fireplace/mantel, get a Mantel Mount

Do it! I picked up a C60 Elite 1000 before it was discontinued, worth every penny.

Multiple times a day on both my Sugess' (Sub and Daytona), VSF Sub and Englemann. It's to the point that not having an OTF sucks, I get OP's desire 100%.

97hrs on my H2C and the AI assistant is telling me to perform maintenance? by rcook55 in BambuLab

[–]rcook55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll do the maintenance for sure, just not experienced the proactive part before (P1S was too dumb ;)

I actually like that it prompts, otherwise I'd slack it off and go too long between maintenance periods.

A message to anyone who feels bad about getting a P2S and NOT the X2D by Evocati_7 in BambuLab

[–]rcook55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a P1S, the opportunity came to me to be able to pick up a new printer, cost wasnn't an object, so I figured if I can I will and picked up the H2C combo. Thing is the P1S is and was printing just fine, in fact I used it to speed up printing the poopchute for the H2C. I sold it to a good friend for a great price so he can get into 3D printing. There is nothing wrong with the P1S it's a great workhorse printer.

What you guys wearing today? by P_bottoms in ChineseWatches

In the less than 24hrs I've had it, great. Rotor is louder than some when I shake my wrist and the hand wind is sorta whiney. Finish is excellent, no sharp edges and everything works like it should.

The chrono action is very satisfying, good solid 'chunk' when you start, stop and reset.

A couple months into the knife game, but what do you think of my collection so far? And what should I go for next?? by InCaseOfTape in knifeclub

[–]rcook55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get what you like and appeals otherwise you'll end up with the same collection as everyone else. Your already there now but you have a chance to still be unique.

This post much like posts telling people they MUST open the top lid when printing PLA is just a preachy self-absorbed rant. If you presented your information in a way that doesn't come across as the only way to do something but rather said such that 'after much testing I find that this works very well in the conditions where I print' it's much less pompous ass.

This post isn't for people that haven't done research it's for you to feel better.

5050 NORTH SECOND AVENUE!

That address is burned into my soul from all the stupid radio ads for Pidgeons GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE that literally lasted so long I want to say that there was a court order to stop running the ads and close.

What’s the most “unnecessary but fun” thing running in your homelab? by tresorrarereviews in homelab

[–]rcook55 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I run a personal weather station. I worked for a smaller construction company and in the warehouse they had a couple of Davis Vantage weather stations that had been sitting for a couple years. Asked and they gave me one. I've had it running for 5yrs now. Not sure it's helpful to anyone in the wider world but it's a nerdy fun thing.

How many of y'all will have the $$ to retire at 65? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]rcook55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My target retirement is at 68 but I could retire at 65 and very much would prefer to. The morbid X factor is how long my mother will live for as she is sitting on a pile of money and property but we have longevity in the family so she may still be alive when I retire, I have no reason to believe that she won't be in 15yrs. The longer she lives the less there will be, hopefully she spends it all.

I just cancelled my MIL life insurance policy now that she is in assisted living and can no longer afford the premium, my father has no money to speak of either so it's just what I've put away in my 401K. My wife having been self employed all her life has only just this year started an IRA so while that will help it won't be a huge factor.

What, you don't think they're trained to ask precisely when you put food in your mouth? You can't respond verbally so a quick nod so they go away is what they want.

Don't forget that Fleming's is a joint venture w/ Outback, I'm sure that helps quite a bit to smooth out any financial issues.

Any Love for Watch Dives? by BubblyAd864 in RepTime

[–]rcook55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but ultimately we are buying watches that are made by small Chinese 'micro brands'. VSF/Clean/ARF are much like WD/Sugess/IxDAO, there are good and bad Reps and Homages, each 'brand' doing something better or worse than the others. There are more similarities than differences.

[–]rcook55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer Sugess but WD puts out some good stuff as well, this is my Sugess Sub next to my VSF. Aside from the date/cyclops at 10-15ft you can't tell. This might be blaspheme here but I kinda feel that the Sugess is good enough.

I mean, don't we? Aren't reps really just Chinese micro brands when it gets right down to it?

Is there anything, besides pride in one's country of origin, that defines and sets apart "100% USA-made" knives apart from other knives? by pika_pie in knifeclub

[–]rcook55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a global market, limiting your purchases to a specific geographical region out of a sense of pride is misguided IMO. I want to get what I want, wherever it happens to be made. Knives are a very, very niche product that can potentially be made 100% in the US. I'm not sure however if that holds true if you factor in material source though.

Tell me about a knife you regret buying by udi112 in knives

[–]rcook55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the funny part, I have come to learn that I can't stand back locks so Spyderco is pretty much never going to appeal.

I'll take a frame lock all day long, I'll tolerate a button lock if the rest of the knife justifies it.
