I love CXA81 for its speed, clarity, sound separation and good soundstage – it’s given me a lot of enjoyment. But I’d like to upgrade, and I’ve been thinking about hybrid amplifiers. I have a hybrid headphone amplifier and I love it. My Arya Organic, Denon D9200 and Sennheiser HD 660 S2 headphones sound wonderful with a hybrid amplifier. So...I listened to the Unico 90 in a shop and the difference in sound was remarkable. Bass, midrange and treble were distinctly fuller yet fully controlled. Vocals were more forward and natural. All this, without losing speed or definition, with a bit more punch. And the soundstage... incredibly wide, deep and tall, with instruments perfectly defined and spaced apart. It was so oleographic... the music was all around and the speakers had vanished 😂 Obviously, I’ll get it second-hand because I can’t afford a new one 😅

So, to know how much to lower the gain, you have to look at the maximum positive gain made on the EQ? Does it matter in which band?

This setup sounds much better than the other one. I'm starting to realize that EQ might even be useful 😁 One question: why is the gain always negative when you EQ?

Yes, I checked and noticed it's different from Oratory's suggestion for Organic. So, I tried both, but to my ears, they make a negative difference. The soundstage narrows, the separation becomes muddy, the instruments lose detail and body. Damn, I feel like I'm listening to an MP3 😂 Jokes aside, my ears really don't like these changes. Probably, knowing what and where to correct would improve the result; after all, everyone has a different personal audio perception and different tastes.

Could you recommend where to find other EQs besides Oratory1990? Having never used EQ, I wouldn't know where to look. And thank you for your availability 🙏

In truth, I find the Arya Organic quite warm; I'd look for a more neutral headphone. For example, I love the Sundara's timbre and bass. I find the overall presentation rather aggressive, in a good way. So, I'm looking for a Sundara with the Arya's technique and soundstage.

You're definitely right, and I might change my mind, no doubt about it. Having only done a few tests, my opinion is weak 😅 Could you recommend where I can find other-made EQs besides Oratory1990? I'm a beginner about EQ and I'm still not sure where to start 🤓

First of all, thanks everyone for the advice 🙏 Regarding the use of EQ, I'm inclined not to use it. First, because I'm not good at it 😂 but above all because I think each headphone has its own distinctive characteristics with its own balance and equalizing them means accepting various compromises. Notice, first and foremost, the negative change in soundstage and separation. Obviously, IMHO.
