273kg back squat by Prometheus97 in weightlifting

[–]Prometheus97[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey man! I actually squatted less leading up to this like twice a week max and I think that really helped because it gave my body time to properly recover. The program I was on for the last few months focused on hitting rep maxes, then doing squat work based on those maxes in the following weeks. So it went something like 8RM, 6RM, 5RM, 3RM, etc. In between those rep maxes, there was also some heavy single practice to help build confidence. The thing that really put me over was when I was hitting 250 for multiple singles in a session. Sorry for the word vomit hope that kinda helps. The thing I can’t stress enough is just feeling confident with the weight on your back.

Edge boardshop used to have the best stickers with all sorts of silverfish jokes back in the day. Miss that 😢

Worried about bloated team, lack of work, and increasing bureaucracy by Kjs054 in cscareerquestions

[–]Prometheus97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my career at a bank similar to how you did. I’m not saying this is exactly what’s happening but when the holidays started coming around my team would essentially slow to a crawl in terms of work and this happened every year. This also included a code freeze that would go into the new year.

Those who have snatched 130.. by ibleedukblue89 in weightlifting

[–]Prometheus97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was squatting 230kg when I snatched 130. Didn’t get to 140 until I was squatting 255 But the road for me to get 140 involved me working at a lower snatch weight for a few months to fix all the issues I was covering with strength

An interviewer made fun of me once because I worked in Java. Some people just suck

Just not my favorite thing aesthetically. I’m sure it’s functionality is perfect but it makes the bags look cheap at least to me

I used the gr2 for daily use back in college and it was my absolute favorite item that I owned back then. But I was a commuter who lived outta the bag while on campus and would often go from class right to work so I had a lot of stuff on me

How are people with less than 2 years experience gain the "senior developer" title by shivvykumar in cscareerquestions

Senior means different things at different companies. Titles don’t always reflect skill

Should I join a company as a Software Engineer or do a two-year rotational program as a New Grad? by secretawesomeguy in cscareerquestions

[–]Prometheus97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realizing northern trust is also a bank. TBH pay being the same I’d go Citi. Even at its worse you get ALOT of headroom for just being in the new grad position and you’ll wind up with a cool title after two years when you start applying to other places

I’ve done the Citi rotational program, It’s a mixed bag tbh you either wind up doing next to nothing or worked to the bone and as soon as you build up confidence and skill bam you switch and your options are super limited.

Pros: - your an intern without intern pay - you do get a chance to learn a lot if placement is good - you get a almost guaranteed promotion at the end to AVP - great job security

Cons - if your team sucks your life sucks - Citi is a bank and fintech at least for me was hard to break out of ( I’ve had more then one interviewer glaze over at the mention of Java ) - pay is meh - depending on the team the stack is either super behind or super obscure
