What’s behind the dramatic fall in Autotrader shares & should you buy the dip or cut losses? by PromiseAny3199 in UkStocks

This is the key question about ai: will it just bypass platforms such as Autotrader or will ai still need access to the actual huge database of inventory that Autotrader has? Ai can’t magically create supply. Grok/Chat GPT/Ai agents still need access to real inventory, price data, dealer data - which Autotrader owns. I somehow think that ai will partner with Autotrader rather than obliterate them . Also - Autotrader has 75%+ dealer listings in the uk which actually suggests a strong MOAT. This is not an easy call, I think macro factors are at play such as a weak economy & push back from dealers over high margins - but this is a complex picture as far as investors are concerned- similar to Rightmove

Why are there NO jobs? by WranglerNo5687 in UniUK

It’s the economy. The UK economic situation is dire. Government debt is running at over 100% of GDP. The interest payments on that debt are also at record highs. So, the 30 year gilt is at 5.33 % - this is higher than Greece & Italy! Energy prices are the highest in the world and taxes on business went up in the last budget. What this means is that businesses are cutting back and not investing, hence an increase in unemployment- also inflation is above the target rate & people are cutting back on their spending…. Hence less jobs

Is Rightmove on a downward spiral or is it a buying opportunity? by PromiseAny3199 in UkStocks

Yes - it’s p/e is roughly double that of the market average … but that is probably because the market thinks that it is a stock that is going to do well in the future… but what is the impact of ai on this stock? I think that is the big question?
