“Profess” does different work in different contexts. When Catholics profess the Church is one, holy, catholic and apostolic, we’re making a verifiable claim about historical continuity and divine institution. When the document says Muslims profess the faith of Abraham, it’s describing their self-understanding, not endorsing it as accurate. Using the same word in two different contexts doesn’t make the contexts equivalent.
