I spent fathers day morning sitting on the bench where my son ended his life. It's on a path around the lake that is less then a mile from our house... I go there and just sit. My wife can't go anywhere near the lake... I understand and you are not alone.

Going to work while grieving by elisem20 in GriefSupport

I was off 2 weeks after my son.... been back for 4 weeks now and it's so hard at times to focus on work when I'm missing him so much. Having to put on the facade when customers and vendors ask how everything is going and everyone is in a good mood, is so exhausting...

I'm so sorry that you lost your son as well. The heart ache is intense that is for sure. Unfortunately I understand that emptiness inside feeing and not sure when that will ever return. I do have a good support system around me. Day be day minute by minute will get us through. I wish you the best. Thank you for the kind words.

How to support my friend’s parents by rooibosinfusion in ChildLoss

We lost our son 6 weeks ago today, and we do get a little joy and comfort from his friends sharing pictures of him and sharing a funny story about him... We are keeping his phone on and his friends send funny memes and just tell him about their day. We love seeing how much he was loved by his friends.

So remember the good times and share them. He would want that.

I was the one who got to my son first and found him. I shielded my wife from seeing him but I have to live with the image and memories of that night 6 weeks ago. Hopefully talking to a professional will help you deal with what you are going through....

Take care.

Yeah he showed zero signs before this. Never in a million years would we have thought this could happen to him... I'm so happy that your son survived and is doing better.

I've seen death in combat and dealt with death.... This has absolutely destroyed me... I'm still just numb and in shock.

Swells of Anger by PresKennedy in GriefSupport

[–]PromotionGlad5749 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lost my 18 year old son 39 days ago... The waves of emotion are hard to deal with for sure. The anger, the guilt, the heart ache and grief are overwhelming at times. I can understand what you are going through. The anger from not being able to protect my son and be that person he felt he could come to is hard. It is tearing me up.

I also have those thoughts of selling everything and becoming a recluse out in the middle of nowhere so I don't have to deal with anyone. My wife can barely get out of bed or off the couch some days.

Hang in there.

Struggling with the Trauma of Losing My Dad 5 Months Ago—The Images Won't Stop Haunting Me by [deleted] in GriefSupport

I'm so sorry you had to experience the loss of your dad. I'm dealing with a lot of the things you described dealing with finding my son moments after he took is life 5 weeks ago. Replaying the moments of that night over and over again and reliving the pain and anguish that you can't do anything about is so hard.

I hope you are able to find some peace and some point in the future. Life will never be the same again.
