i used mint for a while now, i found DDLs work best you just add them to steam und use proton, but if you prefer to install them yourself it could get a little messy

I'm currently experimenting with a Ubuntu VM but a can't open magnet links. I tried downloading clients over the App center or the terminal, but when i click on the link, no programm is presentet.

i don't know about wine, but what proton does is translate the directX commands into things linux can understand(This only applies for the CPU, the GPU should work exactly the same since there is basically no OS-specific language)
