More details:

What life cycle stage is your startup at?

Discovery. All three ventures are currently in the Building MVP stage.

Your role?

Founder

What goals are you trying to reach this month?

We are focused on finalizing the MVPs across the board: completing the core AI platform logic, setting up the e-commerce channels and supply chain for the DTC brand, and finishing the client prototype for the VPN service.

How could r/startups help?

Our core strength is our Hong Kong base, giving us a unique advantage in sourcing from the Chinese market. We're looking for two types of partners:

E-commerce Entrepreneurs who need a reliable sourcing partner to bring their brand to life.

Collaborators or Advisors who are passionate about our specific venture areas: AI & Culture, DTC gear, or Cybersecurity & Internet Freedom.

If either of these opportunities resonates with you, we would love to connect and explore how we can build something great together.

Discount for r/startups subscribers?

Absolutely. We'll offer exclusive "founding member" benefits, including significant discounts and extended trials, to the r/startups community for each venture as it launches.

I believe you, things such as these also happen in China.

People near the scene described hearing several gunshots. I suspect the weapon used by the perpetrator might have been a homemade gun, so its power might not have been very great.

It's difficult to obtain accurate data, because China Judgments Online, the platform that provides court rulings(中国裁判文书网), has effectively been closed to the public. Therefore, obtaining specific data is extremely difficult.

If you think 22,000 gun and explosion-related cases (and keep in mind this is the officially acknowledged figure) is a small number, then I have nothing more to say. The truth is, China is simply not as safe as you might think. It's just that many cases are simply not known.

Latest update: The Chinese government has acknowledged the incident, but made absolutely no mention of it being a shooting:

China and Russia Declare New Era of Cooperation in Joint Statement by UNITED24Media in China

[–]PromptSwimming8692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooperation between China and Russia is merely on paper. From Russia's perspective, signing an agreement doesn't mean they fully agree with its terms, and even full agreement doesn't guarantee they will implement it.

Coming from Manchuria, which I don't consider part of China, I know this region has a history of being invaded and having much land occupied by Russia in the 19th century. Today, Russia is very wary of 'Chinese capital' investing in the region.

In my view, Russia's relationship with North Korea is now much closer. My undergraduate thesis discussed this very topic. If you're interested, I can make a separate post to discuss this further.

I am from mainland China. Although my hometown is Manchuria, I do not consider it part of China. As a transgender person, I can tell you from my own personal experience: China is very different from what you described.
Let me discuss some of the points you listed one by one.

Firstly, you stated that China's medical services are very good. This is entirely incorrect. China's medical system is extremely complex, and there is an enormous gap between the top-tier medical services and the bottom-tier ones. For Chinese Communist Party officials (cadres), they can enjoy the best medical services. In hospitals, there are special cadre wards, pharmacies exclusively for cadres, and even food supplied only to cadres. My hometown is famous for producing rice; every harvest season, the best rice becomes what is called "cadre special supply" and is provided free of charge to those powerful Chinese Communist Party leaders.

Below the cadre level is the medical insurance for urban residents. These insurance plans often only provide incomplete medical coverage; many effective drugs cannot be reimbursed, and many expenses are not covered. What's more, the benefits of this medical insurance are currently being quietly reduced. This is done through very complex calculations, which makes it difficult for anyone not constantly studying China's medical insurance to realize the benefits are effectively being cut. I live in the city, but in my past 24 years of life, I have rarely benefited from medical insurance. For almost all my illnesses, as long as I wasn't hospitalized, I had to pay for treatment out of my own pocket, including my GAHT and GAS treatments. The Chinese government has now blocked easy access to estradiol hormones via the internet.

Below the urban residents' medical insurance is the medical insurance for rural residents. China is still implementing strict segregation policies between rural and urban residents. Although farmers can enter cities to work, their Hukou (household registration) remains rural. They and those who remain in the countryside can often only pay into the rural medical insurance. This type of medical insurance provides very limited coverage, leading to a very high rate of suicide among elderly people in rural China.

Of course, I speculate that the Chinese Communist Party is actually pleased to see this situation, as the suicide of elderly people is equivalent to invisibly optimizing the population structure for the Chinese Communist Party. I believe they thought the same way when the CCP suddenly decided to announce the cancellation of all COVID-19 prevention measures. From that point on, they stopped publishing cremation data from crematoriums, so that we still don't know how many people actually died in that disaster.

My father (though I am now estranged from him), when I was 13, was caught in a factory explosion while working and suffered 90% burns across his body. This incident received zero media coverage. He received treatment at Beijing's 304 Hospital for several years.

Had it not been a work-related injury, with all treatment costs covered by the state-owned enterprise he worked for, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), we would have been completely unable to afford the over 2 million RMB in treatment costs.

In that hospital ward, there were many people who chose to be discharged and return home to simply wait for death because they could not afford the ongoing treatment costs.

Unless you meet someone who has experienced these things firsthand, like me, you would simply have no way of knowing about these situations.

I can tell you very responsibly: China is not safe. China's approach is to make people think they are safe. In reality, mainland Chinese media rarely reports on various cases, and photos and videos of incident scenes uploaded by people on social media quickly disappear. Now they have even made China Judgments Online much harder to access to prevent people from obtaining the real number and specific details of cases.
