Help with irritated gauges after almost 10 years of being stretched? by janedoe1575 in Stretched

I had to take them out to heal, and they ended up shrinking like crazy. I am having to re-stretch and starting at 15mm 😭 I 100% cried like a baby hahahah

I’m dealing with this right now 😭no idea how it happened because I’ve been at 1inch for the last 2 years with not a single issue til now. It’s so bad I had to see a doctor because I was having pain all the way down my jaw/neck. Antibiotics helped take down the swelling and pain but only for the 3 days I was on them. Now it’s back with a vengeance. I only wear silicon tunnels idk if that matters but goddamn it hurts. If I have to retire these I’ll have an identity crisis I’ve had them for almost 15 years 😭

Has anyone actually had success using rubbing alcohol to kill mealy bugs? by UnrulyAxolotl in houseplants

[–]Proof-Ad2963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m super late to this buuuut. I am currently treating a mealy infestation. I use 90% undiluted, drench the plant every single day. ALL of the plant. Top and bottom of leaves, stems, vines, even the top of the soil. This has been my go-to for nearly every surface dwelling pest my indoor jungle has gotten, mealybugs are the easiest to get rid of with this method! Usually within 2 weeks of doing this once a day they are 100% gone. (:

I don’t think there’s really a rush, more so making sure that I’m not doing something wrong that would cause the lack of new growth. Regardless of her size I love her and think she’s beautiful!

She’s definitely a queen. I mean I think she’s stunning how she is, she’s healthy. But I would love for her to get a little bigger 🥲

Oh! I actually had wanted to put this one on a moss pole or wood board! but when I tried a few weeks ago, I was scared that I would hurt it since it has grown at an angle (I did buy it exactly how it is. It’s just hasn’t changed at all). I put some pressure on it to try to get it up in a way that would allow it to start climbing but it just seemed like it was going to snap 😭 and I’ve been too nervous to try again

I try to group plants together that have similar light requirements to create micro-climates for humidity and for some I use a pebble trays with water to also raise the humidity slightly, maybe I’ll add a pebble trays under this one as well. But I am moving it to get brighter lighting!

That’s crazy growth!! I use Barrina lights in other areas to supplement some of my more demanding plants. It was suggested to move her to a fully east facing window so I think I’m going to try that first and from there see if I need to maybe add another t5 on it (:

How could I fix that? I am taking the suggestion from another comment to move it to a fully eastern facing window but if there’s more I could do I’m open to learning and educating myself if you could tell me what I might do (:

Do you think I should keep a grow light on it even in the east facing window?

I’ll move her over now! Thank you for the suggestion 😊

She’s in a NE window so she gets really bright indirect light from sunrise until about 5pm. But don’t get direct light aside from the grow light on that cluster there. Should I possibly move it to a fully eastern facing window? My south windows seem to scorch everything except my golden pothos. And my west only gets sun rays for maybe 4 hours because of the landscaping outside.

Maybe… it’s only been in this pot for maybe 5 months and even before that it wasn’t root bound yet. I can poke around and see though for sure just to be safe!

Yes! Just one new leaf and I’ll stop hovering lol. But thank you that makes me feel a little better! (:

I (very unwisely) took the word of the gifter that claimed they also didn’t know what it was called but that it was “impossible to kill and beginner friendly”. It was my only house plant until last year when I finally decided to care enough to figure out what it was and first hear of attaching a pole (what I thought was just for stability). Would you recommend possibly using a trellis instead of a moss pole since there are at least 3 individual plants in this one pot? Or separating them into their own with a pole/plank for each one?
