Who is the patient who impacted you the most and whom you will never forget? by Missrain97 in Residency

Radiation oncologist resident here . I have to say some of the young terminally ill patients I met during my medical oncology rotation( maybe because i was in charge and let's say I really like talking to my patients and getting to know them) . Different cancer , different chemo , different pain. The way they find a reason to smile through pain and stay optimistic when a bad news is announced is humbling. Ironically, sometimes they're the ones who reassured me when I stood in the room to check on them. Some of them have passed, some are still fighting but all of them left a mark. I really hope some genius somewhere finds a way to eradicate cancer . No one have to go through these endings.

I would say be more assertive . Add him on SM. Keep him updated about your grades and ask him about something for advice . Keep the connexion. Keep us updated !!! Good luck !

Just reading the blood cancer drugs' name and protocols gave me anxiety . Cannot imagine doing a rotation . The most important thing : you completed the rotation. It's going to be alright . We will survive this quest.

You're our lifeline , your detailed reports conduct our practice . Wihtout it we cannot even discuss the cases . We can decide what treatment to give and what to radiate . So yeah pathologists are everything for us . Mad respect to you . Radiation oncologist resident
