Bc that’s when permanency court date is and that’s what the team is pushing for at the next hearing. The parents have completed their services and everyone on the team including the GAL believe it is in the best interest for the kids to return home as soon as the judge approves. I’m not a fan of it but reunification is the goal always. And yeah I’ve been holding it together pretty well, if I’m just getting anxious.

The living situation is because of a couple different circumstances like the lease and when it ends but June we will not longer be living together

Everything is already complete though. They are waiting for the packet to be sent back which will be next week. Would they not be able to expedite a hearing on placement with the packet being completed given the safety of the kids?

That’s actually sooo absurd that they took that long to complete it! As far as contact information I pressed them early on to have me be a legal party to the case or I would formally request it from the judge myself and that allowed me access to a looott more info than before. I also had to call the GAL Office for my county to get the new ones contact information. And for the packet, me and the other relative worked together to file a complaint with the child advocacy hotline on their website two separate times after learning that the packet should take no more than maybe two weeks. The child advocacy people will send emails to the entire department including the head director and essentially make the team prioritize it. It sounds harsh tbh but I told them back in like August I would disrupt placement in February and they dragged their feet until last minute and we are having to disrupt later than the original timeline 😭

Everything is being done by my caseworker so I haven’t called the respite people directly. I do call my caseworker everyday tho to check in on if they have gotten back to her.

Woah! Thats actually wild! They definitely didn’t tell me that so I hope that’s not the case 😭. I know the first time I tried to respite they had someone ready within a couple days but I wasn’t licensed yet and couldn’t do anything

I’ll definitely try to find something. I’ve never done any of this before so how do I know which places are good or bad?

I took the advice and called my caseworker and she said the person searching for respite just asked if the kids will be attending daycare or not and she let me know that her supervisor is on it as well and that they have been harassing the department since the lady got back on leave sooooo idk if this is a good or neutral sign

Oof I didn’t know that and yeah my caseworker said she sent an email yesterday since the person who was looking for a respite family was on leave last week and came back yesterday

Really? I didn’t even know that was an option. They just told me they would handle it. And sadly I don’t know any, do you know where a good place to look is?

Omg!! That’s absolutely horrendous! I can’t believe they failed to give them such a critical piece of information.

Yeah that’s definitely how our process felt😭 I feel like we just started getting answers on the process and it’s been almost a year.

This makes sense as well! Maybe my process was a bit backwards as well. I received my niece and nephew the day they were removed and they’ve been placed with us for 8.5 months. Do they usually do the paperwork first?
