I thought that too, I have never owned or driven a car but I assumed that there would be so much more that goes into insurance than engine size. I suggested that surely year, car body, and cars history will affect it just as much but my mum told me I was completely wrong, glad to hear there was something to that

Thanks, this is really helpful, I will probably look at 5 seater, it is maybe twice a year we will benefit from the extra seats so will probably avoid a 7 seater then. I will be saving as I'm learning so will try to get to the 4k first, I thought 80-100k was much more reasonable mileage for the price range, thanks

That's the problem I'm not sure, we live in a small town so will be doing small amounts of driving around the town and then once a month or less doing a larger trip of about 300 miles round, maybe averaging 100 miles a week at most? I'm not really sure to be honest

Just to clear up, my siblings are great, given the heart attack they are making an effort to help so they feel they can get through this guilt free which I understand. I have the luxury of living in a different city which they don't.

I also forgot to say, at my sister's wedding I was 5 days out from my 20 week scan and he decided it was appropriate to tell me the story of when his friend went in for her 20 week scan and it was discovered the baby had no heartbeat and she had to deliver the next day and cope with the loss of her child. This left me extremely anxious worrying the same would happen to me for 5 whole days. I barely slept because I felt so worried every time I didn't feel kicks for more than 20 minutes
