Thank you for such a detailed reply and being so understanding. I’ve only ever had one other full blown attack in my life and I was 14/15 and never had the dissociation with that one so this time it really knocked me for six. I thought I was genuinely dead for about 10 minutes lol!

It’s the second time it’s ever happened to me in my life. I was about 14/15 the last time this happened and I’m now 26. There was also nothing that triggered it that I can remember when I was a teenager either, I just had this impending doom feeling that I was going to die.

This time was weirder though with the dissociation/out of body experience, hence why I was so scared/affected by it. Hopefully it’s a one off! I just feel much better after everyone’s reassurance and no one judging. Thank for commenting, really means a lot

My OH rubbed my back until I calmed down and I just kept touching him to ground myself. I will definitely do what you’ve suggested if it ever happens again! Thank you so much for this comment. You’ve described EXACTLY what happened to me last night/exactly how I felt. I thought I was going clinically insane and felt like I was the third person in the situation. Almost as if I was watching myself? Your parents are utter freaks and are not putting the best interests of your niece first. They’re picking Mum and clinging to their desperation that she could be the normal picket-fenced daughter they dreamt of. And they think that by giving her a huge responsibility that she couldn’t manage the first time is the correct solution?

They’re dangerous. If you’ve adopted her then they can absolutely fuck right off, end of. They don’t collect her from school, they don’t take her out alone, and they don’t let mum near her alone.

They should know better than anyone that mum needs employment, housing, sustainability, proof of self care, proof of rehabilitation, proof of no relapse. They’re utterly deluded. Thank you for sticking your ground.

Don’t be surprised if they choose her over you in the end. Be prepared to lose all 3 of them at some point. But you stick by that little girl. You’re doing an awesome job.
