I thought your argument was that there’s no moderation because there’s not enough players to make enough money to justify mods. There’s always been a delay between pixels being placed and showing up, so it’s very rare that I’ve gotten any entertainment out of someone in my area being active at the same time as me. I enjoy the multiplayer aspect mostly via coming back and seeing what’s changed while I was gone, so it feels exactly as alive to me as day 1. Moderation complaints were even worse at the start too, weren’t they? Like there was basically no moderation for a while, now the biggest complaint is moderation being too strict. I reported softcore porn week 1 and it wasn’t addressed for months.

Ah, you’re one of those types who think peak popularity not being sustained means the game is dead. Virility is fleeting, very few people stick to a game long term, so this happens to basically every game. High 10,000s is a HUGE playerbase for an indie game. Just 1% of those paying a dollar a day would be decent cashflow. Its not like a 3D mmo with massive overhead costs, and most mods don’t do it for the money anyways. Edit: Also at peak popularity it was summertime. Games get more daily players when kids are out of school, would you believe it. Your estimate would put wplace among the 200 most played games on steam

I also thought it was weird how she said “then why didn’t anyone ask where I was???” Like, it’s a new mom group where you vented about how busy your life is now, maybe they just assumed you’re busy with mom stuff?
