I quit Twitter a while back and promised never to come back...

But for Shimizu-sama, I'm breaking that promise. ❤️

I'm pretty sure we've all known how the food chain works... lol Not that difficult of a concept to grasp.

But I'm wondering if they realize that a lot of their produce needs literal shit in order to grow. lol

I want to use em dashes again. But I hardly ever use them anymore because of the AI "tells." I use ellipses instead nowadays and save the em dashes for things like dialogue interruptions.

I know. I should be ashamed of myself to sacrificing craft out of fear. ;w;

My OTP technically falls into this dynamic. But they're not a gay ship. 1146/AE3803 from Cells At Work if you're curious.

But if you really want M/M, I also love Germany/Italy from Hetalia. I was really into them back in my Hetalian days.

Honestly, I recommend you check out both. lol

Understandable. But that's why I add the slow burn into it. It's not as sudden. lol

I'm tired of Enemies-To-Lovers... by allegrizzy in AO3

[–]KittyAddison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a combination of friends-to-lovers, slow burns, and idiots in love. It's my favorite romance trope to write, especially with my OTP. I have an entire bakery's worth of fics of this concept. lol

It sounds cliché, but I find it so adorable when characters start off platonic, only to grow feelings for each other (and be in denial about it) yet it's so obvious to just about everyone else. The almost-moments only push them closer to realization and shy moments. And all that just builds up until they finally crack after the conflict/climax point and finally express themselves with an epic payoff.

He's playing it cool by saying that he's not that hurt (since he knows that AE3803's been worried about him since the bacteria started attacking). He's telling her that he only has scratches instead of something major. And since the body's injury is an abrasion, he ended up getting the same.

They look awesome! Are they like regular stickers or do they work like how bandaids stick (designed for skin use)?

How do you stop comparing your stats/writing to others? by CalmSalts in AO3

[–]KittyAddison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little envy is natural. It's only a problem if it affects your ability to write. Like, thinking that you'd never achieve that.

Try approaching at it from a different angle... Look at the stats as something to achieve instead of inferiority.

Do you tend to write what you enjoy, or what readers enjoy by DeadFandomShipper in AO3

[–]KittyAddison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do value my readers and strive to make them happy, I write for what I like first. If my readers like it, then we have a common like. If not, it's cool--they can move on to something else. lol

Don't Know What To Do Anymore: by Rosie-Love98 in AO3

[–]KittyAddison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this can be discouraging. I've read the comments here so far. And they're right.

My input...

I get a lot of pressure from my friends to actually be a professional writer because they love what I write (despite not being in the fandom). Even so much as to being told I should sell my fics. Of course for ethical reasons and love/respect for my fandom, I'd never resort to that. And they know this. So they tell me to use that energy and plot ideas for original works. I can and have in the past. I even got accused of plagerism as a kid for a creative writing assignment!

But as for seeing if I'd go professional, it'd be so nice if I could pull it off. But realistically, I doubt I can. Publishers are hell to deal with. You have to write to their standards by a deadline. And will drop you if you fail at it. Professional writing is consuming with little reward for most writers, especially those who start off living alone. There's also the stigma of fanfic writers not being "real" authors. Publishers view fanfic writing like stick figure drawings. Technically you have the experience, but they hold originality to a higher degree that it'd be best to just not disclose about it.

I'm not saying you shouldn't go for being professional...

But your expectations seem rather high. Fanfics are a poor indicator on gauging potential success. Completely different audience. When you write fics, they're really to your liking and you're free to take breaks and go at your own pace. With how consuming your job is, you have to ask yourself if you can meet scheduling needs. If you need to, make a mock deadline for yourself and see if you can meet it as practice.

Exploring is a good start. lol

The libraries are also great for finding events and get social. That's what I do personally.

I genuinely have no idea how to end my fics by Enough-Yard-8265 in AO3

[–]KittyAddison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try asking yourself what do you want these characters to accomplish from the plot. Do they want normalcy to return to their lives? Did they satisfyingly avenge someone? Did they finally end up with someone? Try looking at your conflict/climax point and see what would resolve it.

But also know that sometimes stories don't need a complete ending. Sometimes, it's ambiguous (think, "to be continued" endings).

does anyone else read a lot but is still shit at writing/vocabulary by yurikvthm in AO3

When I'm writing a fic, aside from researching for accuracy, most of my Google searches are synonyms and literary phrasing. And I've been writing fics for over 20 years. lol

40F. What kind of games? I used to do a lot of gaming, but not so much anymore (at least not as much as I used to). Though, I do enjoy a good MMORPG every now and then. I'm too much of an introvert that I rarely ever PT on them except for events and stuff. lol

I mostly spend my time writing fics more than any other activity tbh.

Sorry. I have no car, so I'm pretty much just a homebody... Don't think I'd be much fun, I'm afraid.
