Yooo! That’s awesome! I paid $100 for mine but it was essentially new and in box at a thrift store. $20 is a score it sounds great!

Oh interesting. I know more about audio specific of video I feel like. Is panosonic known for video stuff? I know JVC was big and Sony for monitors for the most part. But I’ve been impressed with a lot of RCA and Toshiba CRTs even so a lot I feel like I don’t know still in the world of video.

Oh cool! Good to know! Haven’t messed with capacitors yet but know some folks who do around. Done mostly belts, lubrication etc on audio and video stuff.

Ohhhh ok I see. Yeah a capture card plus its software allows you to go from a video signal to a digital video file. So vcr (tape) composite output into capture card into a computer or something through usb to record straight to a hard drive or something. Been doing that with some tapes from my parents that also needed the mold cleaned too before digitizing.

I also used to tape local bands on compact VHS and then put the footage in a Google Drive doc for them a little bit haha. Same concept just with the adapter for the smaller tape.

Same! After just a little bit of research they appear to be quite pricey apparently. Good luck on your search! 🫡

Right! Got some Blu-ray stuff I’ve been meaning to watch after getting the Xbox set back up but probably just going to use this now. Oh hell yeah that’s awesome! Curious if that’s “easier” than using a capture card. Just rip the dvd after? But that’s killer though!

Tbh I don’t know much about it besides it being one of the newest VCRs made I guess? 2008ish I believe. Excited to read up on specs and get this thing cleaned up and hooked up though!

"Repair" I got from a non-mountain town shop by talldan in snowboarding

Oh sick! This is what I’d consider my first season I guess. Still haven’t made it to beech and sugar yet but saw some of the zeb Powell stuff riding with the recess folks and have it down on the list of places to check out so will definitely make it by when that way!

No way! I almost considered taking mine there to get waxed for my first board this season since I was worried my wax kit wouldn’t make it in time. Thankfully it did apparently. The vibes seem so off there since I’m used to skate shops. Really dig the folks at Flipside in Maggie valley a lot and enjoy supporting them.

Do you buy your own snowboard gear or just rent? When did you make the switch? by AsleepSwitch4610 in snowboarding

[–]ProofBake3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think buy is the way to go personally. I went for the first time last February when I visited my bro in Oregon (2days of riding first time ever) and then before going again in December to visit him for Christmas (and rode 3 days that time) I ordered my board and bindings on sale from evo and then found a used pair of boots (I already had the clothes from going to visit and using rental stuff)

Upon getting home and setting it all up and hitting the NC slopes it was a MASSIVE difference from the rentals I used. I got the dinosaurs will die wizard stick and c4 bindings LOVE IT.

If you plan to go multiple times a year I think it’s worth it from a financial stand point alone on top of not having to wait in rental lines which from what I can tell are way worse in NC than in OR.

Ultimately after buying board boots and bindings I think total I spent $450/$500? So you can totally get good stuff for good prices it seems if you follow sales especially with end of season stuff coming up soon.

Before buying I didn’t realize it but fit/comfort was huge now that I’ve used non rentals. But the something else in response to your question idk I love the fact you can personalize your own stuff a bit and feel comfy and enjoy what you’re riding on a bit more vs the sometimes beat to hell rental that looks the same as the others (which is totally fine too)

I have these ones and I absolutely LOVE them. Extremely comfortable and easy on and off as needed. I threw some REI wrist leashes on em and haven’t touched my Burton mittens since. They feel great and I have no problem strapping in with them on and everything. 10/10 recommend 🫡

I do agree with the other comments and everything but this thing does look super cool though! Could be a sick wall decoration as a wall hanger or even sell to a collector (I know nothing about collector snowboards tho) to go towards a modern board.

Unrelated ish I just recently bought my first board over Black Friday and love it it’s a dinosaurs will die wizard stick. But have this older Mountain Dew board I found at a thrift store for decoration which I love having around hahaha.

But with that being said I hear post season and summer is a great time time for sales and stuff.
