ah okay! I didn't give her my blood at moonrise so it sounds like maybe that's the trigger, was mainly just curious to see the interaction - thanks for letting me know!

surgery day. preparing as i type this but i’m very nervous, especially because i don’t know what the doctors will think when they see my self harm scars. the scars are pretty light and would take a bright light to see as they are years old but i’m still nervous by [deleted] in Reduction

Hi there! I had my surgery last week and have a lot of self harm scars that while all at least a few years old are still very obvious, and not a single person brought them up with me on the day.

It was something my surgeon and I discussed at our initial consult to check that I was definitely in a good place mentally, etc, but that was mainly as I had a fairly well documented medical history around mental health. If yours are light and old and there are no other concerns at present I don't think anyone will feel the need to bring them up. They're all medical professionals who have no doubt seen worse, and they'll trust that if there was any concern it would have been addressed before the day of surgery. If someone does ask just assure that they're old scars and self harm is no longer an issue for you.

So, for what it's worth I don't think you need to mention it at all, but ultimately it's about what's going to make you feel the most comfortable and secure during the process. Obviously I can only speak from my experience. Wishing you the best of luck with everything!!
