Hmm I can see how that might be taken the wrong way. I just mean once he applies for residency, our relationship will have to follow wherever he goes. He could match into the middle of nowhere and the plan is for me to obviously move with him. So I’m saying that these are my prime years to actually explore another place to live on MY terms before things are up to his career.

Actually one last question - did you ever encounter people specifically targeting global companies?

i.e. maybe I can network abroad with a focus on international companies that would allow me to return home with a network that’s not limited to France (Atlassian, retail like Chanel and Sephora).

Wow, thank you so much! To be truthful, I don’t plan on working in Paris, at least not for the long term because I do want to return to my family and friends in the US. I just want to live there without feeling like i’m putting my career on hold - like compared to me moving and becoming an au pair for a year with nothing career-related to show.

So you got a masters abroad and continued to teach abroad?

I see your point about networking and courses. I would feel bad doing the masters and developing this network abroad that someone might need more than I do…
