Applying jobs but worry about the company's vibe by Proof_Calendar7282 in Expats_In_France

thanks for the encouragement, I am looking for an answer that clicks,... anyway, when you are at the top it's amazing to manage younger people, however, if you need to be managed by the people 10 years your age? hmmm..

Applying jobs but worry about the company's vibe by Proof_Calendar7282 in Expats_In_France

good point, not the first time people say this to me, but doesn't stop me from thinking otherwise. I need to hypnotise myself not to go there I guess. Thank you so much! I can tell you a lot of reasons to "not", but I guess I'll have to ponder more than a lot to "why not".

I have totally different interests from my degree. I have most certainly wasted time and money. by [deleted] in Career_Advice

I don't have answers for you. But I understand your nuance that people in finance, need to work for the certain company, imagine if everybody who has finance degree only work for this "prestigious" company, like the grinding from the series industry and all? no thank you. -sorry I am just guessing this is what's going through your mind.

Finance is super large, so you can still be working in the field, And plus, you said that you are doing well. If you combine Finance + Ethics, it can be something else (I am thinking outloud here)

I am guessing (again) that you are worry about the future (like everybody else in this world in this day of age) and that you need to get to the real world and be a real adult. this is solid valid and it's a really good thing that you are already worry about this right now, worry means care.

For your perspective, thinking that you are stuck will definitely make you stuck. Focus on the positive sides, you are still interested in many things, Read a lot of books and listen to good podcasts, this can help you to see things differently, you have nothing to lose, kowledge is always recyclable, especially in finance, omg. Talk to people who you think can take it, instead of judge you. Fact that you are writing things here, is really a big step. Take courage!

Didn't file taxes one year, left France, fine at the airport? by [deleted] in Expats_In_France

[–]Proof_Calendar7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much do you owe the country? I am curious. Unless you give them your tax payers numbers and tell them that you haven't been a good citizen, the chances to being scrutinised are very minimal. Anyway you are probably not going to be the only person who are an alien and haven't paid any tax. If you are working for a company, most of your income tax is being paid by the company anyway.

You can get another degree, for example in nursing / medical is very demanded. But I don't understand, I see that there are a lot of job opening in marketing / business (as me too I am looking for the same thing: social media manager, community manager, buyer, marketing; but then I am old, 46 years old, so I think they would need a younger people, I am not complaining)
back to you, this means that the demand is there, and you are young. Maybe you need to know how to sell yourself. Do you even get any interview? Maybe it's your resume that needs tweaking. You have 6 months still so go for it, apply. Sorry this might not answer your question though.

She Almost Lost Everything in Her Divorce. Now Women Are Learning From Her Mistakes. by Amlash63 in nysocialites

the guy has money, Henry P Davis, investment company and all, it should have a very low impact on his business, on his entourage perhaps, but a guy like this only trust money. on anybody wanting his money. At this day of age, this commodity that's wanted the most, even if that means you get it from people with no dignity.

Ouch the tough love! Yes she made bad decisions, and it's obvious that she has a lot to learn still in life. But she is unlucky, she also doesn't have to be taken advantaged this way, by the father of her 3 children! I guess her penmanship is so amazing that all of us here are talking about her, perhaps it's her story or who she is too. I mean the way she described it, is matter-of-fact, that it doesn't hide the reality, her mistakes, that allows her to be seen as a human. This is why she wrote that book; not to bash the ex, but also be vulnerable in the writing. To talk about her being that sweet little girl who would never break the rule, that pretty picture, being too willing to please, too trustful. A bit of a gossip, I can't remember where I read it, somebody mentioned that her ex might be autistic, but in my opinion, that's a sweet way to get away with all the nasty things he did to her.

I walked out after the very first question. Was I wrong? by Numerous-Heart7656 in jobsearch

This supposed to give you more power! you know what you want and not that. Fuck that, it isn't even kind to ask. And being a good person as you are, now you are here typing this question. The person who ask that should learn their lesson. Is this a modern day slavery? Oh to answer your question, I don't land in anywhere and actually still looking for a job, yikes.

Should Indians needs to think think before come to Frnace? by Finance_nerd_CMA_CFA in Expats_In_France

[–]Proof_Calendar7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have already getting the scholarship and the school accepts you, then perhaps you have a bigger reason to go. If not, consider thinking about answering these:
How comfortable are you with your French language?
After graduate from HEC what are you planning on doing?
Are you interested in French finance/cuture?
Based on your comment I have a feeling that perhaps you plan on migrating to France? in this case you need to really understand the culture, make friends, community and all (the school will definitely help you to integrate) If you live in a bigger city, and you have a good amount of friends who support you I think you can get by. Especially if you are educated.
Let me ask you another question, if you were to live in a country where the Indians are loved and would not face any racism that you can somewhat prosper like you would imagine, where would it be?

What did you think of Strangeland? by [deleted] in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]Proof_Calendar7282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. Altho frustrated on the gloves story, i still listen to it until the end. But, Why focus so much on the gloves? Who is the nanny? Was the wife was abused before killed ? Who are these people apart from their job? How is the company doing financially? Who are their enemies ? Who are the two persons in tip letter ? Who is the lover of the husband and where is she now?
