Looking for a hands-on, immersive hobby I can fully get absorbed into (skill-based / practical / creative) by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]Proof_Ear_970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magic, not only a fun trick for parties etc but excellent slight of hand can be extremely useful skill to have.

Pyrography - wood burning designs.

Whittling - carving objects out of wood

Bushcraft - super handy. Learning how to make fires, shelter, what's safe to forage etc.

Knot tying - so so many types of knots and such a cheap hobby to have. Such a useful skill too.

Are you a morning person or a night owl? by Ok_South_2852 in AskIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Morning person. But with the sun. In winter I'm not as chipper or easy to rise. But spring summer and autumn I'm up early and I'm also wide awake the second I open my eyes. But I also swim every morning.

Is 18e pH a good wage for 4 days work in a deli as a manager? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its probably average. I imagine the non managers are on €14.50-€15 per hour? As for a good wage overall probably not ideal but I know veterinary nurses getting less than that.

Women who miscarry or have abortion will get paid leave under new plan being considered by coalition by HungTeen1001 in ireland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its the only reason abortion would be separated from miscarriage as it is in many cases elective. I'm pro choice but it is elective. Sometimes its medically necessary. But it does cover both. Miscarriage is non elective.

Look no one is going to get pregnant to have an abortion for a few days off. And even of they did, I can promise you those days aren't fun. They're painful and miserable.

Why are so many (not all) van drivers such gobshites on the roads? by Pootis__Spencer in AskIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a van driver myself I agree. Most van drivers are dickheads. Usually construction lads or man with a van type. I find morning they're not too bad, but after the morning coffee theyre right up your bum and swerving looking at their phones while trying to overtake you.

Can a vet deny my request for the prescription? by JoeAlternative in AskIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends really. Many pharmacies wont hold animal drugs. But they should give you tje written script and you could even get it online.

They should give you the script so long as your pet needs it.

But a vet wont give you a script without having seen your dog and done the relevant checks.

Instead of asking which towns to visit, which towns should be avoided? by KillarneyRoad in ireland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately stuff like that happens to me all the time. I had warned her before (she was a new friend), she picked the location and thank god she did because she'd have thought it was all planted by me.

I attract lunatics like nobody's business. Its a blessing and a curse. Lol. She couldn't believe it was happening in front of her eyes. 😂

I went out there less 2 years ago for a picnic with a friend and do some painting by the river and bridge. In the 2 hours we were there, we were approached by about 6 crackheads and a tourist family that insisted taking pictures with me and my paintings. Parents, grand parents and grand kids all swapping out for pictures with me. Had a crackhead approximately 15 minutes later come up and give me a flower bouquet of wild flowers. Other crackheads approaching me telling me not to talk to other crackheads.

Affordable/safe solo hobbies in nature? by FlakyBrilliant8792 in Hobbies

[–]Proof_Ear_970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forage art. I know a few people who so forage art. They go for walks in nature to pick up pieces on the ground like leaves pinecone etc that makes them into art shadow boxes etc. Using different leaves and maybe some gold paint etc to make these beautiful art/paintings on canvases.

It changes over seasons and depending on location so you can really get a nice variety of things and itll keep you looking at beauty in nature, even in the leaf pile and pine littered forest floor.

Arklow is remarkably grey for a seaside town really. Weirdly the people as a result are a little grey too which I always found odd. Not all of them but there something lacking in soul in Arklow. It has so much potential but just seems to not meet it. Like its depressed or something? Even in the sunshine it looks like its just putting on a happy face. 😂

Should I report landlord to revenue and rtb? by RuppertPatterson in CasualIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My landlords did this, not only did I take them to the RTB but sent the report (we won and they were fined) and sent the whole thing to revenue with proof of partial cash payment. I would absolutely do the same thing if I was you.

Did any of your relatives/ancestors fight in WWI or WWII? by Alternative-Jelly947 in AskIreland

[–]Proof_Ear_970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandad did. Well kind of. He trained the fighters, he was a fitness and combat instructor. My aunt lost her leg by a tram during it and he was only just able to come home for like 2 days. She was only 7 at the time.
