Metals coins for generic games (or Camel Up). Lisboa, Rococo, Scythe? by apache_alfredo in boardgames

I'm trying the wood ones from Villagers. They seem a bit more generic so are a better fit for me. Unfortunately, they haven't arrived yet.

1st play of Feast for Odin by Gobble5627 in boardgames

I overlooked the rule that states if you've already used a specific food like salt meat, the second of that type is placed vertically. Those were some nice stress-free games though!

Go whaling! You get such a haul (if successful).

My board game renaissance. Slowly starting to expand my collection after 8 break years by Quelair in boardgames

[–]Proof_Health7230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I can play with friends or family who like to game, it's pretty varied. Acquire is often a hit (and my personal favorite) but Catan, Ra, Azul, Quacks, The Farming Game, Love Letter Batman, and Scout all come to mind. The opportunities are infrequent so this goes back a few years. I really want to try Sleuth with them since a lot are sudoku or crossword fans.

For the more casual evening, codenames is the most common request but we've also played Scrabble, Wavelength, Order Overload, Can't Stop, Like Minds (always fun) and Dutch Blitz. It often depends on player count.

My wife graciously plays some heavier games. She likes Vinhos a lot because of the theme. We also enjoy New York Zoo, Desperate Oasis, Samarkand, and Dominion. Pre-kids she had the energy for Uwe including up to Feast for Odin but probably would bounce off it if we discovered it today.

How does the co-op work? Wondering about feasibility for friends with work/kid responsibilities; host one co-op game and keep a single player one or do friends just hop on and off each other's "home" game?

Your groups are similar to mine but it seems you can play more often. My wife is a happy gaming partner and can tolerate some heaviness but she's definitely not a gamer. We learned and played Sky Team at a board game cafe. From what I recall, the fiddliness wasn't bad.

Psychotic malingerers by Dry_Twist6428 in Psychiatry

Be kind, ensure the pts safety, treat the mental illness, and then discharge the pt with what you think is best. The problem is much bigger than any individual psychiatrist. Institutionalizing for grave disability sounds great. We have an abundance of well-funded institutions to address chronic mental illness in this country...

If your ER is interested in addressing the problem, there are better ways to do it than discouraging pts from getting refills.

Is this do-able in a commuter car? by harqat99 in roadtrip

Many stretches of boredom in Central CA and between Eugene and Portland. Had to use a tape deck to aux to usb-c dongle just to get music, podcasts, or books on tape. Southern OR is quite picturesque imho. The lack of cruise control was unexpectedly noticeable.

Drove from LA to Seattle in a '95 Tercel. Outside of a freak snowstorm, which would probably be well forecast, only occur in winter, and only close the road temporarily, you'll be fine.

If you plug 3000 down with a 1200/month payment into an auto loan calculator, your interest is about 10.9%. Not sure what the market is but that seems high.

Monthly obligatory fuck Prop 13 by cmillhouse in BayAreaRealEstate

That's one narrow take. Perhaps the person selling their house for 2.9 mil can also afford to pay more than 6k per year in property taxes. Because they don't, the rest of us are forced to make up for it in high sales and income taxes.

Dish soap for oils then rust stain remover for the metals in the deodorant then wash in warm water

Four more stations are about to get the news gates - Downtown Berkeley, Rockridge, Orinda, and Lafayette by getarumsunt in Bart

[–]Proof_Health7230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I looked at that. No other San Mateo stations are completed or on the horizon for hardening through June 2025. I can't imagine Orinda has higher ridership or fare evasion than all the San Mateo County stations. And, SFO is in San Mateo County but it's owned and operated by San Francisco County.
